Hey OzCocoLoco, got the Blumats on order but would like a little more info around dialling them in as in roughly how dry to let the soil get before setting them to drip of you don't mind?

I give them a heavy watering then wait till the following day and dial them in to that moisture level.
Start of with them closed then slowly open them up till a drop will hang on to the end of the drip line, then I tighten it so that drop gets sucked back into the line.
This thread at icmag is like the Blumat Bible the guy @rives posts are the ones to pay attention to

Hell yeah, your original post got me looking into them, love the way they can babysit for me basically. I was thinking (before I asked you) of giving a good watering and then setting them to drip around day 3 or 4 after the drenching so the plants still had to work a little.

I'm in Coco so that might be a better idea if you are in soil

They have a really cool moisture meter you can buy aswell not cheap but it's trade quality
This I need to find, also a roll of tubing going by the first few pages in that link you put up before.edit:
Just checked it out, would be a little costly for a few of them, wonder if the old cheap moisture Meyers would be worth it (the 10$ ones on the bay)

nother edit

I used to use a bit of 20mm conduit with a Coke bottle taped to the end like a funnel for watering the hard to get ones, was ghetto as but did a sweet job lol
Yeah nice I did the whole garden hose into a watering with a hose clamp good for a while til the seal starts to leak and if hold the hose wrong it would fuck out lol 20mm conduit way sturdier

Those moisture meters are useless,I just go by how heavy the pot feels
