Agree about watering MORE/LESS Often. And letting the plant go on a SEMI DRY PERIOD. NEVER DRY THOUGH. EVER.
I would veg with the 600w, and the LEDs If youre gonna grow 4 large plants you need to blast them, get them growing as fast as possible, and using all the food, and water possible, though don't overfert, as they only need so much, and often times over fert can cause hermis. Its like vitamins/minerals for a human. You need so many, and that's it. If overloaded, it can kill you.
I would also use the Hortilux HPS 600w For Veg.. MORE PAR/Umole Forget the spectrum. t plenty good enough, and is Blue Enhanced. I use 1000w Hortilux for veg/seedlings.
Id also have the seedlings under the 600w. No need for the LED at that point as the 600w will cover the area for a while. Id give the 600w HPS/Hortilux a 3.5 x 3.5 foot print for usable Veg size. Not usre how much more the LED will give. Id have the LED eventually on each side of the 600w.
Also think ahead if youre going to Veg LARGE, Trained Plants in 1 room, and then take them to another room???
I would also sex them in 1 gallon pots, and then transplant into the containers they will live the rest of their lives in. Aint no transplanting large, Trained Plants. You technically can, but I wouldnt recommend it.
With the 600w, and the 2 x LEDs you could easily Veg 4 fast growing nice plants, that will produce strong side branching. You have to have strong, complex lateral side branching for maximum production.
I use Promix BX. I do add 32 tsp Calcitic Lime, and 17 tsp Dolomite per 3.8 cu/ft bale.
Also I use a simple, cheap Moisture Meter, and Ive been doing it so long I can also tell by hand, but a cheap meter WORKS, and takes all guess work out of it.
I believe its generally accepted you can water with 20%/25% of soil/container volume.
If its in 5 gallon bucket, when its established, no reason it cant take 1.20 gallons water. And generally at 80 degrees with fans blowing 24 hours a day, they need water within 3-4 days. I start keeping a close eye by day 3.
BUT, you have to use logic, and if tis a small plant in a large container, IMHO its easy enough to visualize how much water to use, because I/You know what I was giving it before transplant?.
Say Im sexing in a 1g pot, and are now ready to go to a 30 gal. I knw the amount of water Ive been giving them, so I alredy know, I only need to give a little extra, to give the roots a wet space to grow to. And Day/Day watering give just a little more each time they need it, until the plant is established, and growing quickly.
If it stays wet more than 4 days, that's to much water. I usually have to water by the 3.5-4th day.
That's with 20 gallons container, and 4-5 gallons water If its over 80,, and a well established plant., fans blowing... I'll give it extra, and it may go to the 4th day then, vs 3.5.
But I also check everyday, just so I can get a feel for how fast the plant is using water, and the evaporation part of the equation.after a while its like riding a bike, but even though Ive been doing this inside since 78, I still rely on the meter
The meter also lets me go to exactly RIGHT BEFORE Low Moisture Line on the Meter, and time it exactly as I see fit. I never let them get completely dry this way, and if they get to dry, and are watered, this can burn them because of salt concentration, and is even worse if theyre fertilized, and watered at the same time, after getting really dry. IMHO a $15 Meter it worth its weight in gold.
2 x 1000w Hortilux is optimal for x 4 x 8 foot print. Will provide 62.5w Sq/ft, and at 24 inches will supply 1600+ umol, and its likely you can get them closer than 24 inches if you have good ventilation, and airflow. I can easily get under 20 in the fall, and winter with no atmospheric control, but in the summer, have to usually raise them to even 30 inches.
62w Sq/ft is strong enough to grow any sativa. Some don't say to use w/sq/ft, but scientists do, and the Sun, has over 12,000w sq/ft at the equator, on a sunny day, at noon. And YUGE amounts of UVA/B. Especially in the Andes/Equador.
I always have several nice fans and want all of my plants to be showing sings of movement.
Id grow a strain that stretches like hell when flipped. Id use 2 plants per light, and as large of a container as I can get in there. Nah. If I was really wanting to maximize, id use 30 gallon per plant.
Id look into some
Dominion Seed Company
Dominion Skunk, and veg them to 2.5-3 feet, and they will at least double their size and will have crazy side branching, and a very big yield of potent funk.
If temps/ect are right, and everythings dialed in. Ill eat my shoes if you cant pull close to 3lbs with that strain.
Its also a 56-66 day variety.
Another Huge Production plant is.
Swami Organic Seeds.
Purple Zebra x1985 RKS/Michoacan
THE ONE x 1985 RKS/Michoacán... Its Sativa Dom, and takes 80-100 days.
