I suppose if you only ate like a g a day you could probably keep a nice bush going in a tent and pick a leave a week or somthing lol.. But if you're able to get a decent k for 60 shipped (shout to SG lol).. Im pretty sure you would spend A LOT more than that on electricity (even with QBs
) to produce a k..Maybe If you have enough space and are in the right place to do it outside...

It's more about ensuring supply than about saving money. Granted, it wouldn't really be enough to allow me to consume as much as I do now, but some is better than none. Im not sure I understand so forgive my ignorance.. If it would cost say $600 in electricity to grow a k (Im just pulling the # out of my ass.. Im guessing it could even be more) wouldnt buying 10 ks at $600 be a better way of ensuring supply? You would have to grow the plant out over a year to get a few grams a couple times a week.. maybe if you're lucky.

It might be "fun" to grow a few outside in an orchard, or keep one as a fun houseplant.. but the idea of growing some inside to "ensure supply"

I'll be surprised (pleasantly so) if kilos can even be purchased a couple of years from now. I haven't done the math yet - and yes, it may prove to be more money than it's worth - but if the electric cost was within my budget, and the light schedule was appropriate, I'm envisioning a couple of trees in a large basement grow space that will already be vegging weed. They have a bunch of different lines. ELG are cheaper than the HLG, but are derated to 70% power at 120 VAC input. If you want to go ghetto style there is the LRS series, at around 10 cent per watt.

Hey I’m in Australia if I bought direct from hlg online store would they send me a driver and plug compatible with my country?
it should be pretty easy to find an Au to Us plug converter and a us surge protector with multiple outlets both together should be less than $25 Aud .
Probably easier than trying to adjust if you are going to pay the shipping anyways.

Not worth the efficiency loss and I believe they standard line has a 5 year warranty. Makes no sense to buy the most efficient light you can get then drive it with a low end driver.

QB 304 S5 3500k - Citizen cob ( 2 ) 3500k
4 panel with pin heat sinks ... dual dim
480 max ( 3x3 )
Current power : 320w ( kill a watt pull @ wall )
8” in-line exhaust
4” passive inlet
Oscillating fan cooling ..... No AC ...
Strains :
Black Afghani x Blueberry ( auto testers ) .... 2 plants
HSO BD AUTO X Mephisto Toof ( auto )
My cross from the selfed BD auto ( fem pollen ) dusted to a couple of Mephisto branches.
( got about 23 seeds from it )
This is the first popped seed from that.
I also kept beans that was SELFED to that BD AUTO ( got maybe 40 or so beans ) of those.
The Black AF are in mid veg and are barely throwing pistils so not sure if these testers will need a KICK to flower ( I will give it another 10 days ) . Pheno differences are noticeable between the two.
But they are happy ....
Dr. Earth veg / garden soil is still going strong without adding anything. I do use Optic Foliar Overspray on them once a week and started silica in their watering but soil is as is.
Everything is green , so why fuck up on an over feed ?
This soil will definitely be the one I will use as primary. And will probably break out my hempy buckets too. ( 3:1 perlite / vermiculite).
18/6 cycle .... will introduce the G8 Red at flower set. And will begin bloom ( maxi bloom or MCrop ) at about week 2 of actual flower. Other room has the 12/12 seed to harvest grows in week 6 so I’m just gonna let those finish and by the time I cut those these girls can go over there to finish. And add the new girls I’m germinate now : PEYOTE COOKIES X BD AUTO. ( another cross I did ) .
So I am officially out of fem pollen ( bd ) til I do it again but got beans to play with at least.
Heat hasn’t been much of an issue since I reduce load on boards and it tempers the heat.
Power down slightly and all good.

A hlg480-c2100 will power 4* qb 288s correct. I plan on diming it down for my 3*3 tent. Was going to get a 600-54 but then I can only dim down so much and the 480 is about 50 cheaper.
