How to know if clones are rooting

I use a bit of peroxide and a very light dose of all 3 of my 3-part nutes in the bubbler. Almost anything works tho.

Gonna see if the store has clear cups that fit nicely inside the red cups the wife bought for starting her tomatoes. Can see the roots fine in the bubbler but not so much when I clone in in my usual screened promix and usually go 2 weeks then give them the "tug test" to see if there are any roots happening. They pass almost 100% of the time.

My girls are today 3 weeks since 12/12 and I was going to pass on cloning them but getting on that shit today!

First week of cut just tap. ~400 ppm. Change water weekly-ish. 2nd week on - RO watter Bloom nutes /using megacrop now ~150 ppm never any more(no reason just never have exceeded it).

I believe you can find same size party cups in clear and red. GL.
Also, the neorprene pucks I had left over from mediocre bubbler attempt (too hot) can float in a red cup without the second cup if you have some around.

I got a sheet of 25 2" pucks like yours to use with my DIY bubbler cloner. Just a cut down 12" air stone in a small rubbermaid tub with 21 holes in the lid I set the pucks with cuts in them on top of. Had a plastic cakepan lid that fit nicely for a dome and got 4 out of 5 cuts of Critical Mass rooted with it the first try. Ised a 3/4" wood drill to make the holes, trimmed then up with a sharp blade and flicked the BIC to gently melt the edges smooth.

I used my little 50 yo soldering iron at low temp to melt Roman numerals in my neoprene pucks so can keep track when cloning multiple strains. Used my variac to keep the heat low. I just put unused pucks over any empty holes to block light. 21 holes so I got 4 spare pucks.

Pretty sure the solid colour red cups are more than enough to block any light that would affect the roots. Only going to be using a couple 9w 5000K LED bulbs until they start showing roots anyway. Our local store only has the red and clear in the same size to boot.

Still might just use the bubbler too.

I never mist the cuts just spray inside the dome and on the floor of the tray. Thought it was calcium that washed out if you sprayed too much.

For me the bottom leaves starting to yellow indicates that roots are happening and the plant is beginning to veg. I use low light levels until then so the plant doesn't try to veg before it starts it's roots. Light levels go up and up after that. :)

The idea was to use the clear cups so you can see the roots but keep that nested into one of the side color cups to prevent light from getting to the roots the rest of the time.
 
I went an even cheaper route and just cut up some paper and taped it around the cups lol my oldest clone about two and a half weeks old had just shown a root near the bottom of the cup day before I put paper around them so patience is a virtue I must learn to understand and use
 
Two mother plants afghani #1 from Seedsman and Heavy bud and just a couple of clones transplanted one clone already
