Actually sunlight has very poor penetration. The shadows are very hard and lack diffuseness.
Green house growers have seen quite big efficiency increases (6%) with light diffusing foil on the glass. It drops the intensity a little, but the diffuse light penetrates more all the way down through the plants.

As for the pedantic wise mentor bs statement, it matters not whether anyone on this site listens. I have no interest in mentoring anyone from this forum for anything either. As far as I am concerned most of you are criminals or deplorable folks trying to grow pot rather than plants.
Actually I would rather have dissenting opinions from this site for use as examples why the 'gro bro' science crowd isn't to be listened to. Over the years I have lots of examples where I have put out a finding which was ridiculed by the 'gro bro' crowd only to see 6 or 12 months later that what I had said had been tried and accepted as standard.
This go around was reducing the light cycle to 6 hours using high PAR to maintain adequate DLI which I had ran 3 cycles with to get the numbers and shared back those results. Once again ridiculed. Expect to see lots of people running 8 hour or lower on cycles over the next 6 months.
Then today you had the typical brain fart from wietefras that he is known for and some newbie self proclaiming to be an expert even though he doesn't even have a PAR meter. After the standard forum tizzy back and forth where I drop in nice tidbits of beneficial information here we are with everyone getting all emotional and their panties in a bunch. Typical RIU behavior.
So now the race is on to get me banned which I fully anticipate. No matter, I will be back in 6 months with something new to share, end up pointing out some newbie being wrong, take forum heat and eventually get banned. Rinse and repeat.
Why continue? Because it is fun. Plus the smart folks who read this forum get it and can use the information.

As for nobody taking me seriously, that is incorrect. I take myself seriously and is all that matters. Better yet, my results speak for themselves, they don't require a stamp of approval from some random internet 'gro bro' or anyone other than my benefactors. While you may value your identity on this site, the same does not apply to me. I don't require social acceptance and actually shun it, being a sheep and following others might be your comfort zone but it isn't mine.

You pop up in almost every thread, with an opinion on almost every topic (just like GLR). You talk down to people in your efforts to "enlighten" them (just like GLR). This behavior positively screams of a pathological need to be accepted as some kind of teacher (just like GLR). Maybe you were bullied as a child. Or your kids stopped talking to you. Or you have no real friends. Whatever the cause of your compulsive behavior, I expect that you'll carry on, trying to establish yourself as some kind of authority (just like GLR) until the wheels finally come off and you embarrass yourself past the point of no return (just like GLR). Honesty would serve you far better, as would a little humility.
The fact that you didn't show up until GLR left, and the similarities in your behavior and manner of speaking, leave us with the conclusion that you're one and the same. Maybe you should try again with another new user name, but this time keep your more negative tendencies in check.

Never met either nf2g or glr. I said I debated them over some topic that I can't recall. That isn't meeting a person but then again you 'gro bros' have a warped sense of reality. For every million of you 'gro bros' out there are a few truly qualified horticulturalists.
