I am guilty of citing a poll that contains a number I like. I own that. I'm not making it up.

There's a gun for every American. But less than a third own guns.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/15/politics/guns-dont-know-how-many-america/index.html
Well now that makes sense. We still do not understand the gun thing but it I really want to make popcorn and watch the debate.

I had 2 handload rifles for hunting. Wildcats oh how i loved them. Handguns and MR guns other than bolt action surplus were never really available here. I almost bought an SKS and I think they were lumped with ak47s but they suck as deer guns anyway.

This is rollitup and I did. I may be high alegedly. :D

The wildcats were a 6.5/284 and a 35 Whelan. The latter became a factory thing in 92 or so

Tobacco and opioids kill more Americans in one day that military "assault style" rifles do in a year, but yes let's follow the children!

Military style assault vehicles kill more as well, let's ban them...since 4wd was developed by the military to kill and you don't need a 4wd.

Maybe special 30k dollar permits to have and operate 4wd military assault vehicles like Australia, because the kids told me so hahaha.
Speak for yourself city slicker. I need 4x4. I drive miles of dirt road daily. When it's wet, watch out!

You are guilty of citing bullshit every time. This article you linked says very clearly that we don’t know who owns the guns.

There is no record so your entire argument is speculation.
It also says that "less than a third own guns". I understand that you just want to disagree with me but that is a direct quote and not something that I said. By extension, if we were to combine at both statements, then what that article says is "less than a third" of all Americans own guns but the number could be much lower because "we don't know who owns the guns".

I admit to cherry picking the lower number. The Gallup poll says 42% own guns and the General Social Survey says 32%. The more important conclusion is, regardless of how the polling is done gun ownership has declined considerably over the recent decades and that gun owners are a vulnerable minority special interest group. The trend doesn't look good for them either. Especially with the bad press they keep giving themselves.

I won't respond to the false conclusion you wedged into the end of your post because you have instructed me to never directly comment on what you say. I'm just a go along, get along kind of guy.

No you are a follower and a crybaby.

And you will use any lie or exaggeration to make your point.

Conceding you picked a lower number shows the credibility of your argument.

What if I had chosen the higher number? My argument still holds, "42% of all US households" represents a vulnerable minority special interest group, especially when you consider the number is "42% of households".

I don't know why you want to argue with a CNN article. I'm fine with you arguing with my opinion but I'm citing facts. Really, do you deny that those polls show that gun ownership has dropped significantly since they began tracking it?.

So, tell me, how many more dead to gun homicides do you think are acceptable before we take action regarding gun laws?

50,000 dead? 500,000 dead? A million dead? No limit to the number of dead even if it goes into the tens of millions?

Normal for the far left too. It’s the extremists that are the problem. Extremists just like you.
Well, without directly commenting on what you just said, I'll just say that the right to live and move about freely in society is greater than the right to own a gun.

If supporting actions that bring down gun homicide rates to the much lower rates found in other developed nations is extreme, then I embrace your "extremist" label. I don't know why you embrace a status quo that results in the murder of thousands each year when other developed nations have shown us how to prevent them. That is a very extreme position.

That is exactly how we feel as a majority in Canada, Australia, GB (I speak for my part of Canada but I think we all feel the same). But I still really believe it will never change in the USA. The climate is shifting. I would love to be proven wrong.

Public sentiment is shifting pretty quickly away from the status quo of support for practically unregulated gun sales in the US. We are nowhere near the mandate required before we enact a system of gun controls and regulations like the one in Canada but I've seen the sentiment shift very quickly in just a few months.

My guess is about 50,000 more dead to gun homicides and we'll have the mandate we need to get it done. In real time, maybe 3 or 4 more years.

I am not agains gun laws. I can buy pretty much any gun I want 5 miles from my house way out here even. And even with some non felony issues on my record I would only wait 3 days for a hand gun. That ain’t safe for anyone.

However.

The real numbers are much higher for ownership. Many guns are purchased used or handed down through friends and family.

I would bet 90% of the people in my county own at least a hunting rifle. Some keep an armory.

And the statistics you quote are from companies that dare not poll in bad neighborhoods or out in the country.

Strangers are not welcome with clipboards. There is more of America not represented in the polls used for political issues.

I don’t “embrace” any of what you keep saying about me. But that is par for the course for an extremist.

I do believe gun laws won’t solve the problem here. Americans will keep their guns and the law is not going to sweep the neighborhoods to take them.

There is a much deeper problem than the guns. You don’t seem to want to hold anyone responsible but in almost every case people could have stopped the killing.

I'm citing polls which say less than 1/3 of all households own a gun or maybe less than 42% of all households own a gun. Without commenting on what you actually say, I'll just say that you can believe anything you like. You don't even need proof to have me believe that you believe something without proof. If you don't need facts to form your belief, that's your bag, not mine.

I'll stick to founding my opinions on what can be verified as a fact. I remain skeptical of those who don't. Fact: stricter gun control laws work to bring down gun homicide rates in every developed nation that has them. You can believe what you like. I'm entitled to laugh at you for doing so.

Laugh at whatever you want. I’m stoned too. And really injured. I have to get surgery to re build my shoulder.

I am laughing at what you keep saying. And now going to give you a simple math lesson. 42% even if the article said it was accurate which it didn’t, is much closer to even than a majority.

You are a pathetic, sad little man. There are two numbers, neither would change the validity of his argument as a whole.

Meanwhile, the right wing media and constiuents constantly use numbers that are straight up lies. Every right wing meme on facebook is a blatant lie about the numbers.

Just this week the meme states "1,121,000" or something abortions as the leading cause of death each year. The real number is about half and the CDC doesn't categorize abortions as a cause of death.

Then you have "Australia has a gun ban and the number of mass shootings there hasn't gone down at all."

You just went from far left to far right. I don’t agree with either.

You even have to start your comment with an insult. But I wasn’t insulting you. I was insulting a bigot that keeps insulting me.

And the article posted says they really don’t know the numbers. So they quoted 2 different polls. But the polls can’t even be close to accurate. There are no records and they don’t poll where the guns are.

Thank you for proving both of my points about this.
