I got some "freebies" in one tent. Just extra head stash for rainy days.
And in my big tent I've got some pollen chucking going on. Querkle and Jack Herer. Both coming along nicely. Querkle "F2", and Querkle x Jack Herer (Space Jack?)

Your SR crosses are looking very OG. I like! Very pretty, healthy girls.
Thanks, man! Yeah, that’s definitely the Purple Kush/Purple Afghani x Hindu Kush genetics. I really want to breed it if it’s male. Like, I’m going to chuck it at everything that even sounds interesting enough to cross it with.

I’m thinking that, too. It doesn’t really matter anyway, because if it is a male, I am harvesting the shit out of that pollen. I see what could be a single female preflower, but it could also just be mutated growth.
You'll know soon enough without a doubt. I've been fooled too many times to pull anything early. I just wait until I'm 100% now. As I'm sure you know it takes a bit even after the grapes/balls are noticeable before trouble starts. The upside is your cool either way. I'm not going to say what I want to because i don't want to jinx myself......lol

Haha. Alright. And, yeah, I know it takes a couple of weeks before balls start to pop. Thanks, bro. Your viewpoint is appreciated, as always.

Whaddya think of ‘em?

I’ve only ever worked with a 250w HPS and a 400w HPS. I noticed that with HPS, plants didn’t stay squat with good node structure. Most got incredibly stretchy. Like, I have a friend I’m helping with seeds/cuts and stuff, and with his grow, because he isn’t as savvy with understanding the plant on a biophysiological/horticultural/botanical level, and he uses a 400w HPS despite the fact I loaned him two COBs. His plants get more than double the current height of my plants as they are now by the third week. They generally look stretchy, thin, and like the plant isn’t getting sufficient light. My cousin used a 250w, and as you’d expect, it did worse than 78w of COB.
My experience is with 250w & 400w HID as well. I haven't started my grow yet but the box is done and I'm ready to go. I've got a 210w cob fixture that is
pretty nice so I look forward to getting growing. :leaf::leaf:

I just did that with my Querkle the other day.

How do you harvest your pollen? I've been using parchment paper with a crease down the middle, bend the stems carefully over the paper and shake. then transfer to the tube.

This is actually my second time collecting, I usually just let nature do its thing.

That's how I collect mine except I use black paper to make it easier to see the pollen. Make sure it is dry. A few grains of dry rice won't hurt. Freeze for the longest storage. You will get 8 months to a year when freezing it.

It might be too early to tell, but does this look like a ballsack to you guys? In the crook of the lateral branches at the upper node, left hand side. @curious2garden? @Indacouch? @Grandpapy? @treemansbuds? @whitebb2727? @GreatwhiteNorth?

I was considering using a large-dram vial with a wide mouth to shake it into. Otherwise, I was considering an elaborate bag tent. I’ve honestly never bred anything or collected any pollen yet.

I’m thinking the same. Either way, I’ll be happy.

So literally drop a few grains of rice in the tube you see there, and stick that in the deep freezer out in my garage? And should be good to go?

The rice, I’m sure, is to absorb moisture. Like when you drop your phone in a puddle and you stick it in a container of rice for a night or two to draw any water out.

i have viable pollen that is over 4 years old. used it about 3 months ago.

  • i collect on black construction paper
  • i dry for 24 hours on same paper
  • i create individual servings in construction paper folded envelopes
  • i put all the little envelopes in a mason jar and keep it in the freezer
  • the only time its out of the freezer is for me to grab one pack to use

i will be using several packets coming up soon as i got a bunch a girls to hit up.

Yea, I figured that part, but wasn't sure if I should place the rice with the pollen or in a pouch next to it or a bag in a bag or something.

But I like @Sour Wreck 's idea of drying it out over night.

However, I will likely use all the pollen in the next year, so I may just refrigerate.
