That's where barter and free trade comes in numb nuts. If one guy has an orchard and the other guy has a potato field, and they both value the others produce, it's sensible to think they will eventually make some kind of consensual exchange.

Also, I HAVE raised enough food to subsist on, but why limit yourself to only what you can subsist on? Nothing wrong with supplementing your diet with things which you haven't grown or don't grow in your area is there?
