So I have a 4 inch Inline, 170cfm with carbon filter in this 2x3x5 tent. When I close tent completely I achieve slight negative pressure. Temps climb to 80 f, and res temps climb also. Any suggestions?

Separate fans for exhaust and hood cooling or a 6 inch fan in place the 4.

I think that's what I'm going to do... the dame brand inline that's a 6 inch is 470 cfm... opposed to my 4 inch 170 cfm I goofed. Any cheap alternatives where I could still maintained neg pressure?

How many intake and exhaust ports does the rent have?

It has 5 ports, two six inch holes, three, 4 inch holes. I only have one open as passive intake.
And one as the exhaust.
And one as the exhaust.

Opening more intakes would lower your negative pressure but it would also give more airflow and might lower your temps. You could look into using a duct booster fan for cooling the hood. You'd be able to make a shorter duct run from your exhaust without any bends in it. Bends in ducting make a huge difference in efficiency. The ducting booster fan is something like 40 or 50 bucks.

A duct booster on the opposite end of the hood? So like if you were looking at the picture, on the right side of the cool tube?

Fans are always more efficient when pulling instead of pushing so I'd put the fan at the end of the ducting outside the tent pulling air through.

Just the duct booster pulling air through the hood from outside of tent and use your 4" fan to exhaust the tent but shorten the ducting. I'll post a pic in a little while of what I mean.

Just open up more of the passive intakes on the tent like SchmoeJoe initially suggested & reduce the neg pressure. You always want your intake larger than the exhaust. No need for any more fans. If you are worried about temps dropping, then connect your exhaust fan to a temp controlled outlet if you havent already so it only comes on when the tent reaches a set temp of whatever you set it for and turns off when it reaches it. Easy peazy

only reason i wanted to maintain neg pressure is so i could keep the smell (during flower) at bay.

Put a charcoal filter on your passive inlet. Everything else should be "smell tight" if done correctly.

The intake shouldn't have any scent to scrub.

From what they were saying the temp doesn't get low enough for that to be an issue.

Are you just trying to bring temps down in the tent while maintaining neg pressure in the tent? Where do you have your exhaust blowing out and your inlet coming in within the tent?

the exhaust is top right in the picture (blowing out the back of tent through ventilation, that vent hose is about 8 foot long, the intake is on the bottom right (its behind the fan in the picture) its only a 4 inch opening, i have the intake attatched to about 4 feet of ducting to get it out from the back
