Russet Mites

Been battling a strong russet mite infestation. Chopped everything in the flower tent, kept my 1 GG#4 that ive only flowered 2 times and 1 emdogg that seemed nice although im not a fan of its effects. Been using

- Doktor Doom
- Safer
- liquid lady bug
- green clean

Spraying every 3rd day for the past 3 weeks rotating sprays every time and i seem to be winning th battle.
My plants have turned strong green again and very little mite sign but definitely some.

I have read some about pyrithrins not bring a good thing. Doktor doom has some and so does safer. Any thoughts from anyone are appreciated.

You've got a battle on your hands, and it may not just be this grow. They have a sneaky tendency to hide somewhere. If you've chopped everything, then I'd also use chemicals without any plants present. The ones you're keeping, make sure the mites don't come back for two months after treating the room. These things are insidious.

Pyrethrins, although organic, are still not healthy.

Well depending on whether a crop is in flower or not, as pyrethrins are certainly one of the least bad insecticides, but you have to make sure that it is just pyrethrins and not in combination with harmful chems or a synthetic analogue. Largest risk seems to come from exposure during application, so use a mask and gloves and wash up afterwards and keep it away from pets - also does not build up within tissues,(unlike other toxins and heavy metals) so I think occasional usage far enough out from harvest is within safe limits.

I hate mites, can't abide the little fuckers, lol, so every year I apply the strongest miticides I can find around the outside of my house, my lawn and any shrubs and bushes (even my neighbors flowers and bushes ;?). Plus during mite season outdoors, if I do any yard work, I always toss my dirty clothes in the washer right away, don't even wear outdoor shoes in my basement, I'm that paranoid. I've had infestations twice, the second caused me to lose over a dozen plants just weeks before harvest (after battling them for two weeks). Very costly experience, so now mites are public enemy number one in my book ;?)

Not paranoid, @fearnoevil. Diligent. It's kinda like hitting a wasp nest with a baseball bat. Sure you might survive........

I used safer sprayed every 3 days along with a soil soak with azamax, I tried a few low toxic to no avail, did a operation room style clean between runs, stepped up my IPM, also noticed when ever I brought something home from a certain hydro store I got bugs of some kind, between it all I been bug free good luck they are the worst I have encountered to date

The products in your rotation are pretty good but won't get rid of them completely. Sulphur powder dust will work numbers or consistent sulphur burning on top of the reg rotation. I would suggest pyganic into the mix. Essential oils as well. My rotation is Pylon, forbid, water, pyganic, foliar feed, organicide, water, neem oil, dr zyme/nuke em and then the beneficial organisms and if absolutely need them the predatory mites. It's a war strategy, nuke em, set up defense then go on patrol.

You also should check out humboldtDNA. They have been tracking a virus in Gg4 amongst others. Symptoms similar to russet.

Beat the shit outta the russets. So glad I fought em and not slash and burn. Definitely worth it. Kicked their ass never to be seen again.
