It has been illegal on the federal level for a long time. States have made it legal but the federal laws have never changed. Obama made a policy that federal prosecutors should not interfere with state laws that made it legal. Dick Fuck whoops sorry jeffy sessions just rescinded that.

I think thats where im lost, does this mean that if you get caught with weed in a legal state you can now be arrested and charged or not?

By the feds yes they can charge you under federal law. Local and state would leave you alone unless the governor of the state says otherwise.They will go after the biggest growers and sellers first that's where they will make the most money. Personally i believe if we all stood together meaning the 65% of Americans that believe it should be legal and marched on WashingtonI think thats where im lost, does this mean that if you get caught with weed in a legal state you can now be arrested and charged or not?

Yes. If you have a da in a legal state bring charges at the federal level, yes. If you have a local da that brings money connected charges yes. If the DEA comes in, give it up.

historically the feds have arrested less than 1% of all marijuana offenders, so....I wouldnt worry about this one if..

don't you have to sign up with the state to get a mmj card that enables you to grow? i'm not from cali, but i thought / think that this is the way it is in michigan... i'm not from there either though, lol.. i just thought that there is in fact a record some where outside of a dr's office that shows that you have signed up to grow your own plants, a big reason i've never been a big fan of mmj while weed is still a scheduled 1 drug on the federal level.. not sure if hippa laws apply or not..

yep, and sessions has stated he doesnt give a chit about medical growers or users who are following the state imposed medical scheme.
he has a boner for rec sales, dispensaries selling pot, +100 plant gardens, not for measly med patients or their gardens. we safe here in MI, well, us patients are safe.
hippa laws protect the info while they transfer it. weed info is regularly shared across the country with leo we've come to understand. sheriffs have mass mailed patients I recently saw in one state

“Caregivers” are registered with the Dept. of Health.
This is the “Catch 22” with “legalization”. In order to get your commercial grow Licensed, you have to have your facility zoned and inspected, which means divulging the location of your grow to the State. Don’t get zoned/Licensed for whatever reason, they’ve got your number, and will shut you down when they see fit. Now, the State/County doesn’t have to use their resources to shut down the “illegal” grows, they can just pass the collected info on to the Feds. This makes “action against” far more likely as “shutdown” of tax evading (black market “feeding”) illegal grows is just a phone call away (at least, in “Legal” States), and the Feds need to justify greater funding for “The War on Drugs”.

The medical marijuana law never offered any protection for the patient or caregiver. I have continually read, heard about and seen dispensaries and caregivers raided like terrorists by state and local cops.
And even if let go. Once you are in the system you are marked forever. I hope no one believes they actually seal or destroy files when deemed innocent. Every clerk in the country would have to manually do that.
Hell a few years ago they beat up and arrested a local Grand Rapids fireman for His medical grow. He had a card. His family was assaulted. Including the children. It was all over the news when it happened.
That was because of people like Sessions. Still more of them nationwide by a large margin. People may report they are for marijuana when asked. But move in next door to them and they will see things differently.

In my opinion when they are done with their legal setup that is obviously copying Rec states and the people of Michigan vote Rec they will start their sweep. They will let us alone for a while to make money.
Then they will raid the big caregivers first. They love stealing “drug money” and property.
Then the plant count will be compromised to 4 I bet. They don’t want our pot competing with the stores. We don’t pay taxes on it.
Obviously no one cares about medical enough for any protection. Look at the legal Rec states.
Sorry but from what I see here and nationwide these are my feelings.

But when a mayor or a powerful local influence decides an agenda........
And don’t forget cops are promoted from their arrest record. Not convictions.
I have a rec from a Dr in Cali. Pretty sure I'm protected by hippa. No record of me growing with the govt till recently for a whole another reason.
