HLG-80 is only a few $ more and maxed out at 90w instead of 70w.
68w should be enough for the first few weeks but I would rather have a few watts more just for the case you need more.(bigger tent, flowering a motherplant)
If you take the b-version(HLG-80H-C700B) your light will be dimmable from 10 to 100% and if you can wait 1 or 2 weeks you could take 6 EB-Series, gen.2 strips with much better effiency for the same price.
(2ft. Gen.2 strips needs 19,5v@700mA, 13,65w, 175lm/w@3000k and 180lm/w@5000k)
@Randomblame Those specs for the new EB strips are gr8. How do you think they would do on an older MARS driver(86v max/650ma)?
Good idea I wasn't sure when the gen 2s were coming out. Where's a good place to order them from I'm in the state's?
I'm going to buy a HLG-80H-C700B now and wait for the gen 2s to come out. Thanks for the help guys!
I know its not strips but you peaked my interest on this quiet holiday period so I got a a Growgreen 200 watt board and wired it in parallel with a cheapo chinee driver@Randomblame Those specs for the new EB strips are gr8. How do you think they would do on an older MARS driver(86v max/650ma)?
I'm probably older than you lolYou LED guys are bunch geniuses! Don't understand a bit of it but I enjoy watching the talent! If I was younger I'd get into it lol.

My grandpas would be absolutely useless....Haha, it's realy not that hard to learn. My grandpa could do it and you would be surprised how many "old dogs" you meet here. If you use 24 or 48v strips for example(like Samsung F-Series) and 24 or 48v drivers everything else is really a breeze and can be done easily even by a less gifted craftsmen.
Sound good to me. Im actually getting the drivers from my old Mars 600 and would like to use the housing for strips. Will be in a 2x1.5 ft space where height is a problem. Plant height can be no more than 2 ft in veg cab so im hoping the mars conversion will give more headroom and bushier plants. How many strips for the 600 you think. Any possible hotspot issues with such tight spaces?Should work just fine, mate!
You could use eight of the new 1' EB's(fit's better inside a mars housing) and connect them in a series-parallel connection(4s2p), which means each strip gets ~325mA and run with 176lm/w. 4 strips in series needs 78v which fits well with the exsiting driver. I would use only 3000 or 3500°k because it has enough blue for vegging and is best for flowering.
