Here's one for @ttystikk https://www.coindesk.com/2018-year-central-banks-begin-buying-cryptocurrency/

@Randomblame yaknow, the mining of altcoins is getting more tempting...i hear VTC is decent to mine eh @Stone_Free ?
Yeah I'm mining VTC but with my cpu which is the slowest method available....but it is working. With cpu mining it is slow but I'm using my laptop anyway. It's more of an experiment to see if/how it works. Mining with GPU's - graphics cards is also possible. It can be done with a single gpu or a multi-gpu setup in a purpose built frame.Probably cost around £600 to diy a basic one. Is it worth it? Yes if the crypto you choose to mine gets mass adoption. Mining BTC is not possible for diy'ers because it takes a long time and a lot of power but other currencies like Vertcoin, Verge etc are worth doing I think.

There are people mining Vertcoin as part of a pool with gpu mining rigs and they're getting 1-3 VTC per day. A VTC is worth around $8 atm. There is electricity costs but it is no more expensive than running a 1000W HPS.

I would advise against graphics card rigs, as you always have to used the latest generations to make it worthwhile.
I have an i5 2500k oc'ed @ 5ghz and a crossfire system with 2 Radeon RX280's oc'ed to 1250mhz(watercooled), top notch 5 years ago. I've double checked what would come out and it would not be worth it, apart from 650w consumption it would be ±0 in the best case.
If you or someone else wants to try it I highly recommend to use the latest AMD Radeon cards(Vega10 or better Polaris10/Q2/2018).
AMD's mineing performance is always better as Nvidias.

I think my earlier question about the plants got missed so here are some pics and the question, should I defol all the dead shit and leave any healthy stuff on? I guess it seems obvious that I should but not sure how far to go with them? Some leaves appear to look ok in terms of colour but are twisted up. There is some newer growth lower down that looks healthy.
2 pics per plant, an overhead and one a bit closer in.......thanks for any help/advice, appreciated as always (:

It's weird with the crypto thing...you have some people saying that the IMF will soon have to start holding btc because it's value will be comparable, or higher than, the special drawing rights of other currencies. Some are saying it is just a bubble and will burst with dire consequences, some are saying it is dangerous because it is not regulated by govts., some are saying it and other crypto's are going to change the way we live.....interesting times.
What strikes me though is that the nay sayers are not looking a tiny bit deeper at the technologies behind crypto's and what they will achieve. Interesting times ahead. Next year is gonna be especially interesting when the G20 get together and France puts forward a discussion on the whole subject.....

still feeding plain water, man? what ec is your water? my memory is terrible! looks like too much food/over watered still, dude.

crypto for the win
They've not had food or water for a few days. I'm letting them dry out and then give them plain tap water which is around 6 pH Dunno about the ec cos I never measure it.
I think it's still the over feed playing out but dunno what to defol and how far to go.
Yeah crypto is gonna be a big winner in 2018 (:

As lukio sed leave them for now. Its just more stress for the plants.

When you next water your plants, check the root temps inside the root ball carefully. If the root temps are dropping too much after watering's then taking time to rise up, this isnt going to be helping matters.

A (£35) reptile heatmat and a thermostat is a wise investment this time of year. Root temps can drop loads when watering, even at lights on. Avoiding that drop by having a heatmat turn on automatically works great. Its all about the roots in soil mate, keep them happy and the stuff up top grows itself.

I run the hot and cold tap into watering can to get water temps up.
A thermometer is handy as you don' want it too hot though. Works for me..
I use a heat at I got in grow shop years ago, it' about 16 x 24" ish.

I was thinking of getting an electric blanket to use instead of a heat mat. Can get a waterproof one and it'll be bigger than a heat mat so I can use 1 for all 3 root pouches. I guess that'll work just the same.
Cheers for the advice mate.

Crypto will be a winner until it isn't. I think it's late in the game now, those who made money got in a long time ago. The sheep are piling in now and they'll be the ones getting shorn.

Definitely trim off those damaged leaves. They're just sucking resources from the health parts of the plant.

Once again, I thank you gentlemen for the civil and highly informative discussion about crypto currencies. It's been enlightening to say the least.

I'm buying gold at my earliest opportunity lol

Sorry buddy but you're completely and totally wrong on this. Crypto is just getting started. Do a bit of reading on projects such as Cardano, WaBi, Adex, Substratum, Power Ledger just to name a few. These are all projects with tech behind them that address problems people/businesses face every day. They aren't just some coin that's issued just to trade on the world's markets. Even stuff like SysCoin will be massive. There is so much more to this that I think you're missing mate.

Same here i just use the hot tap too get it around 20-22 ish.

I disagree with @ttystikk they will drop when they have no use. Try snapping one off and i bet its really tough to click off.

E2a electric blanket does the same job as a heat mat but water and electrics dont mix well, be carefull lol
