I call BS on that video. P1000 is a mid 10sec car. How the F was it out running 8 second cars? You can hear the other cars aren't even getting on it off the line, that terminator stang shoulda pulled the front wheels if he launched it right.

I'm not denying they're fast cars, but they aren't going up against 8 second "street cars".

The car is lightened and has improved electronics; 'stock body, stock motors, stock battery' conveniently ignores the all important power controller, which can easily make a model S an 8 sec car.

In addition, you'll notice that's not a dragstrip- it's a regular street. Much harder to get a good launch there, giving all wheel drive a big advantage.

Finally, electric motors develop 100% of their rated torque at zero rpm, making a clutch and transmission unnecessary and redundant.

I was nitro for the longest time, until I got a decent electric on trade and I put a few $$ into it like speed control and higher turn motor. Electric power is 100% right now! No clutches, no building HP just all power delivered right now. I do however enjoy the ability to pull in with a nitro, fill the tank and cruise off again without needing to stop, needing 10 battery packs or needing to charge in order to play.

From what I looked up the fastest recorded, modified, p1000 is around 10.4 in the quarter. 10.4 to 8 is a HUGE jump.

These cars were racing 1/8 mile....hardtop beat a tesla at 0-60...or 0-100. Street drags are rarely 1/4 miles...

I saw a proposed Mercedes electric and hydrogen hybrid SUV supposedly coming out in late 2018. BMW has been running 7 series hydrogen cars for quite a while.

There is supposedly a new graphene battery technology that I think U of Texas has developed and Hendrik Fisker is looking into it. Fisker was the Tesla competitor. Oddly, Bob Lutz bought up the rights and they dropped V-8s into the Fisker bodies.

It is kind of sickening when people who are supposedly are socially responsible support a company who engages in crap like this and offshores much of their hundreds of billions in cash in a tax haven aka Nevada. Apple is viewed as Mother Theresa but they are far from that.

I am not a Tesla and Elon basher but he is getting hit with discrimination stuff from line workers plus also union busting activities. Their factory, as far as I know, is the old Nummi factory that was the Toyota/GM factory their shared that was unionized. Toyota finally threw their hands up and said they could not make any money in the Nor Cal and with a unionized plant.

NUMMI couldn't make money because those who follow the rules these days are at a competitive disadvantage to those who don't but aren't held accountable.
