because capitalism is at all costs- including its citizens. What you’re ignoring is that this problem simply does not exist in other countries. This is a uniquely American issue.
Sure, people will always kill others. Like was pointed out, they could even use a spork to get it done. But, a spork will not mow down 50 people in a matter of seconds. Only a gun can accomplish that.
Like foggy said, the ball is in the gun advocates court. You can either push your elected leaders to make some meaningful changes, or it will be done for you by the anti-gun crowd (which is an ever growing majority). I have a hunch that you would not like the result of those changes...
As was mentioned earlier, you probably wouldn’t like the changes made if it were left up to someone like me...
Personally I’d support something similar to what Australia did, but that’s not likely to happen, so I’d settle for *some* of the following:
Eliminate high capacity weapons. There is no need for a gun to have the ability to fire 10+ bullets at a time. If you can’t kill a deer or disable a “bad guy” in less than 10 shots, then you shouldn’t own a gun. There should be universal background checks on EVERY gun sale. I’d also like to see a registry. Every gun purchased has a unique serial number, and that gets recorded in a nationwide database. There should also be limits on how many guns an individual/household can own. There is no need for one person to own dozens of guns. Gun collector? Find a new hobby. Your pastime is less important than someone’s life.
I’d support mandatory storage laws as well, with extremely stiff penalties if your gun is not properly stored while not being used, or is stolen. If your gun is used in the commission of a crime by the person who stole it, you face the same charges as the person who committed the crime. Maybe that would incentivize people to properly store their weapons.
I’m sure some of that seems looney tunes to you, but something needs to be done. I’ve never owned a gun, but I’ve always said that I supported people’s right to own them...I’m really starting to reconsider that position.
I haven't had time to respond. Been deer hunting. With a shotgun actually. I'm in brush.
Did you notice how no response from the gun enthusiasts? I think your list would be a good start. I'd add a 25% tax on all ammunition and on gun sales whether used or new, private sale, gun show or gun shop designated to pay for background checks, data collection and safety/storage education and enforcement. The %amount of the tax to be reviewed and increased or decreased according to how well gun related accidents or crimes causing homicides or injuries compare to benchmark countries. Make the gun industry and its customers pay for the programs. It might give them incentive to clean up their act. Clearly, at this time they don't give a shit.
please say with slugs not buckshotsI haven't had time to respond. Been deer hunting. With a shotgun actually. I'm in brush.
I will respond to what stow said. I'm ok with most of what he said. With the exception of the ten round thing. Some guns like a marlin .22 hold 16. My pistols hold 10-12.
I wouldn't ban ar15 type weapons. Maybe nfa them and charge a little more like you were saying. They already have a 11% excise tax on them.
I'm willing to work at it and make some changes.
Ban bump stocks. If need be ban the larger drums that hold 45-100 rounds.
Maybe 20 round limit if one needs to be imposed.
Yea. Slugs. Buckshot is illegal and inhumane. I'm using an old 870 wingmaster with improved cylinder. I can hit a pop can at 100 yards with it.please say with slugs not buckshots
Yes, it would be. But they won't. It is just a salve to fool their fans and redirect the argument. Besides, mental health care is typically voluntary and people who are inclined to shoot a few dozen people are not likely to seek it out.You think we have too many? Really? Background checks are too much to ask?
Be nice to put some money into mental health again too. Easily modified automatic weapons and crazy people =84 dead in the last 35 days. And those were just the high profile cases.
I was thinking of the church shooter with a history back to high school, military history of violent assault and threats to superior officers.Yes, it would be. But they won't. It is just a salve to fool their fans and redirect the argument. Why do you hate soda?Yea. Slugs. Buckshot is illegal and inhumane. I'm using an old 870 wingmaster with improved cylinder. I can hit a pop can at 100 yards with it.
Its bad for you.Why do you hate soda?
High fructose corn syrup is THE DEVIL!Its bad for you.
Everything in moderation.High fructose corn syrup is THE DEVIL!
I'm sorry but neither of you get it.yeah, and they started that practice with the issuance of each bitcoin. you have to do that because there's no physical coin to hold.

He should have been forced into a mental health program.
Of course, perfectly fine to buy weapons. Mental health isn't mentioned in the 2nd amendment. Crazy people need protect themselves from crazy people too, right?
in Florida, you can Baker Act and hold for 72 hours at mental health facility.Yes, it would be. But they won't. It is just a salve to fool their fans and redirect the argument. Besides, mental health care is typically voluntary and people who are inclined to shoot a few dozen people are not likely to seek it out.
The military has much greater latitude to force somebody into a mental health facility. But in the end they just decided to cut him loose and let society take the hit. At that point he was pretty far from being involuntarily treated.
Wow, 72 whole hours. Problem solved.in Florida, you can Baker Act and hold for 72 hours at mental health facility.
