New Spectrum King SK600

Can you explain why every thread turns into the same troll shitmess??
Why can people not talk about anything other than Quantum Boards or Growmau5 in peace?
If a thread get's started about an ApacheTech AT600 are you going to call that an over priced outdated POS too? I doubt it...funny how no one dare run their cob or QB lights side by side against one
Brother @wiccan is the grower that has the balls to come on this site and post pics of what he is growing with SK and discuss it in a creative fashion. Mega kudos to you bro :hump:

Kinda thinking just some high efficiency reds supplementing the SK400 would give the quality increase you are looking for. I know with the inda-gro induction lamps adding just the small wattage of red in the pontoon makes a huge difference in bud structure.
Something to look into

By the way thank YOU! Onehit
I am here to share and learn.
After all don't we all want the same thing,
our plants to be the best they can be?

Did they switch to Samsung diodes?

Is Samsung the only company that can make quality led's?
lolz.

Dude you come across as having anger issues...

We are on forums where we build and discuss the best of the best leds being built today, that's rare in any industry. SK build just fine lights, for people who don't mind massively overpaying for something that at best is considered "ok-ish" to people here. I'm not sure why you seem to expect people to nut over lights that have one of the worst footprints of any LED light ever made known to the world but you seems to be stuck on doing so. If they had a design that was not shockingly moronic it could be a pretty damn good light, that is still massively over priced.

I just sold some lights I build to someone who has SK lights, the older ones.. he says they grow "eh, ok." This is a 1500$ light that grow "eh, ok." There is a reason people would rather buy 2, 3 or 4 other lights that not only grow better, are vastly more versatile but in the end will grow 2-3-4 times as much because that's how overpriced SK is.

People also talk about quantum boards because they are setting new standards in efficiency, ppfd, ease of building and very reasonable costs.

SK is 1500$ to cover a 4x4 for flower... You realize I can build my own lights and cover a 4x12 for approx the same costs... That means SK would cost about 4,500$ to do the same thing, lol! SK comes with ceiling height issues too.

For the record SK is a mini QB build, just poorly designed.

I'm sure all this will only further piss you off rather than address the actual issues and costs of their lights. I don't want to suggest that you work for SK or that you bought a ton and don't want to regret it but you come across as a fanboi or something. At 1500$ there is ZERO savings over HPS with SK. I'd be shocked if SK's lights costs more than 400$ to have built for them.

No just curious I know there are several companies that are pretty close to the same. I'm guessing you don't know the answer to the question? They look kinda like the lm301b
Just a little sarcasm bro, every thread has turned into Samsung/QB this or that when we know there are other led companies making top notch components as well ;)

No I don't work for SK and don't even own one. The point is, why not let people have a thread just on SK lights and growing with them rather than turn every single thread into DIY bullshit?? Not everyone DIY's and trust me, it's not because they can't......
Just let us see some SK grown pants for fucks sake

Why do you have such a stoke boner over the new SK light?
No boner what so ever Johnny, now calm down son before you make me get all Daniel Larusso on your ass :hump:

Guys, I don't think OneHit has a hard-on for SK. I think he was just frustrated because he wanted to discuss the specs of the light - good, bad, meh, whatever - and he was concerned that the thread was just going to devolve into a pissing match. Personally, I think there's room for criticism in any open discussion of a product, but I can understand people being a little jumpy - there are some trolls around here. I don't see any trolls posting in this thread though.

OneHit, go ahead and correct me if I've got you wrong.

That wasn't the original intent of this thread. Perhaps you need to read the first post over again -it was never intended to be a grow and show, it was asking for opinions on the lights.

My opinion is that they are overpriced, overhyped garbage. Their own site claims that their 450 watt light replaces a 1000 watt HID - laughable. Why are you going to bat for a company that claims ridiculously stupid shit like that?

Haha well I wast trying to turn it into that I'm aware a "quantum board" is just a pcb with led nothing new some other company will have a more effecient diode soon an quantum boards as we know them will be a thing of the past. But there's nothing wrong with telling people there is newer tech out. At this point in time the Samsung diodes are king I would call spending money on anything else a waste unless you are trying to experiment and there is no financial goal.

I guess im not as hung up on lights as others are (pun intended :) ) I think unless you are rounding out your grow on all aspects, you are going to get less of an ideal result, regardless of lights. I do think that spending $2.34 a watt is a little high. I think overall costs have dropped to the point where most of that is branding markup. $1 a watt seems to be a great spot. You can get high quality light at that point. I think people get too hung up on efficiency as well. If you hung your lights from the perfect height, and ran them the exact amount of time each day then a few % points of efficiency would matter. as it stands, most home growers just run their lights a set amount of time a day. 18/6 or so. So 150lm/w vs 155lm/w is really moot here.

One 6 inch by 6 inch 600 watt led panel is probably not the best usage of light. I think spreading it out will get you better results. I think people of talking about QB because you build light at 87 cents a watt and get a 515 watt light. They are also super simple for a new grower to understand. Not a lot of moving parts, no fans, simple heatsinks, no thermo paste. But at the end of they day, i would take a few of Mars Hydro lights over 600 watts of SK. Not on quality of light, but it would give a better spread and cost 1/3 the price. If you are growing 3 or 4 plants are you really going to see a big difference?

Fair enough, I don't want to fight or get into an insult competition here as I assume you don't either.

This thread was about discussion about SK lights, not a grow log with SK lights. I'd look at a grow log with SK lights, someone that has tons of $ that does not mind spending as much on a few lights as a decent used car costs.

Nope, it's not LM301b.
Count the diodes and consider, LM301b is a 0.5w mid power diode.
This seems to be the Osram Duris E10, same diodes as in the latest BudMaster Growlights.
It's a 11.4w "multi-diode/mini COB", running at 38v / 300mA with up to 1800lm (datasheet).
Here they are a driven lower at ~ 100mA for 3-4w per diode and up to 180lm/w.
Between the whites are additional red, probably Osram Oslon horti's in 660nm.

Take a look at the close-ups on their website and compare them to the image in Osram's data sheet.
If it's not Osram it must be something very similar but I know nothing comparable so far.

BTW,
datasheet is in one of my other posts, if interested...
Would like to see strips using these diodes..
