What you're doing is what I would recommend for someone that wants to stay in smaller pots.I flower in 1 1/2 gallon paper baskets and up pot to that at or near flip. Very light feeding teas and mix is 20 to 30% recycled. Top dress once at 4 weeks with fish bone meal. I do a very light Alfalfa tea then clear then compost tea at waterings. Canopy at my house is low and flat LST. Small plants so I can move them easily in a perpetual tent. This makes for a very high bud/leaf leaf and stem ratio.
Mostly what I want to know is do you use any sort of wetting agent for your peat?
I add a wetting agent if it's the first time im mixing the soil. I just use plain dish soap. My soil is mostly humus, worm castings, perlite, and rice hulls. All the peat has probably broken down at this point. I don't even have to add amendments. I just mulch with worm castings from my worm bin every few weeks.
