Is it not effective to remove some some leaves (pruning?) My canopy gets out of control, I find removing leaves helps with humidity/circulation, I only remove fan leaves that are touching or blocking light into the canopy. Now it seems i have more bud sites. Am i harming yields, eg exposing more sites, but not getting as much growth?

Exposing more bud sites isn't going to increase yield. The buds themselves don't require light the same as an apple or an orange doesn't require light. Buds are only the reproductive organs for the plant. It's the leaves that produce the energy responsible for their growth not light. Photosynthesis, c02/02 exchange, respiration and transpiration are all functions of leaves.
The bottom buds will always be smaller than tops, hormones produced it the growth tips of apical dominant plants control the growth of the buds and branches below it. It's why and how topping works.
I knew it wasn't going to increase yields, was asking the opposite, if I'm removing some larger fans am I decreasing yields? just though more penetration into the canopy onto the leaves that weren't getting so much light would make up for the ones that were removed. Like I say, i don't defoliate, just prune enough to keep the canopy in check and stop leaves overlapping. Would you recommend just leaving them alone? Im midway through flowering on my 1st grow. I supercropped these for an even canopy

If they aren't useful to the plant they'll yellow and fall off. The intensity of light falls off fast indoors so removing leaves on top for leaves further from the light source can be counter productive.

You make a troll thread "in the mood to abuse my plant" cut off every leave and ask "is it bad of me?" Why would you call it abuse? When is abuse of anything beneficial, genius?
When people answered your question you respond with solar panels excuse is old.
When other leaf functions were mentioned, you already knew about all of them. Then expect people to tell you why it doesn't work. If you know it all already what's the point of the thread? Take all the scholarly articles you speak of, dry your tears and get over it.

With all my years in Agriculture....I have yet to read a textbook, publications, journals, thesis, research or scribbles in the toilet wall that describes plant leaves as solar panel. Only in cannabis culture. Just because a person coined that phrase suddenly everybody is parroting the Solar Panel shit......Get over it....it's old and worthless.

You then call what you are doing an experiment.
Where is the control? Where are the ones with various amounts of leaves removed?
Did you even read the study you posted? It claimed the plants with 3 leaves removed did the best. Anymore than that hurt them.
Its laughable.
You know the only reason anyone claims chopping all the leaves make bigger buds? Its similar to how cutting all your pubes off makes your pecker look bigger.
