I'm in the mood to abuse my plant

You blew it. Should not have done that. You would have came out better leaving the solar panels on the plant. It's how they feed and thrive. It's like cutting your hands off and trying to eat a hamburger. Pretty tough to nourish youself.
The kind of post I like to read even if it's a criticism....its still cool

Well, I wanna try this defoliation late in flowering and see what it would do to the plant. If it fails, at least its pretty close and I'll just have an early harvest. Beside, IMO, the Solar Panel explanation is over rated.

Second, I posted this too because there's just too many postings of people over nurturing their plants to death. I believe mj is a very tolerant plant and can take all sort of abuse, including this post.

People are tolerant too, but just because you can survive being beat with a mop handle or garden hose everyday doesn't make it a good idea.

If solar panels don't work for ya check out transpiration and respiration.

Alright, looks like everybody is against defoliation (at least in this forum). Fair enough. My problem with this though, nobody have come up with a better evidence against defoliation....it's the same echo over and over...not to do it because leaves are like solar panel. This is getting old advise and it seems to me everybody is just repeating what somebody have said it's not because of solid experience.

There is plenty of scholarly articles out there that defoliation improve yield, if not by volume then in terms of quality but unfortunately has nothing to do with cannabis.

Yet nobody have come up and showed why defoliation is not good for cannabis. Do you have an actual experience with defoliation? If so, I'm all ears(or eyes) to listen(or read) to your experience. What I dont get though, every time defoliation is the subject, I feel hostility around here.

Now to the subject of defoliation. I agree that leaves are important in the early/vegetative stage of plant, no doubt about it. What I'm after is the 'timing' of defoliation. The plant above is 6-7 weeks of flower, 90% or so of the pistils have receded and I'm waiting for more calyxes to swell up.

This is the part where I believe that the timing is right for defoliation. The last 2-3 weeks of the plant energy will be diverted to fatten those calyxes instead of the plant maintaining those leaves. If this experiment fail then I have solid evidence at least for myself that defoliation will fucked up my plant. But, what if it works? Well, maybe I'll just keep my mouth shut with all the hostility here.

I've done a lot of experimentation on this grow. Some of it works, some dont, simple as that.

But definitely a progress

So you defoliated the plant, the plant will finish of cause and then you will come back and say how it grew better with no clone and side by side test...

If your going to use the title "abuse my plant" at least break its main stem or something.

It is meant to be a satire in response to people's reaction in various defoliation thread in this forum.

Good point, you're the only one who have offered a means to verify the result.

And as a matter of fact, I do.

Her sister, same strain, same age. Almost the same size, this one is just a tad bigger, not much. This is the reason why I defoliated the smaller one to compare the result to this plant.

Reality and belief are 2 different things. Look at Trump.

Defoliation, is counter productive - period!

This topic has been hashed and rehashed here and other places.
You sound positive that your going to find another result from test after test failing to back up your assumption!

I have a long time friend who is as headstrong as you. He defoliates as he's found it "increases his yield". I have to say it does BUT he defoliates as most are instructed. Much earlier. From that point he gets small dense buds. Not much bag appeal. And my runs, kill his. In yield by plant size and sure as hell by bag appeal.

You (most likely under the influence) decided to defol at the end of bloom...
Did you know that the last 2 weeks are when the plant puts on the most weight, size and density? You removed the parts of the plant that do by far, the bulk of the "work" for the plant...

You just successfully stunted your growth......

Now stop coming back and posting on how it still needs to be tried. This horse is long dead and your beating it again. Isn't going to make defoliation work any better.... What internet bull shit.

Best you actually go take classes in Botany.

That's what experimentation is all about, isnt it or are we just gonna be contend and act like a bunch of sheep?

I'm very aware that the last 2-3 weeks is where the calyxes start to swell and mature. What if the plant reacts to defoliation by sending the right bio-chemical to speed-up/enhance the maturation of calyxes? Or, are we just be content whatever botany 101 book you have read? We might as well ignore all the scholarly researched done because if not all of them are contrary to botany 101.
Now stop coming back and posting on how it still needs to be tried. This horse is long dead and your beating it again. Isn't going to make defoliation work any better.... What internet bull shit
Like others have been saying show me side by side comparison of successful defoliation.....I will ask you the same, show me side by side comparison of failed defoliation.

Yes, there's not much researched done to cannabis, WE are the research. So if we dont discuss our experiments and actual experiences, bad or good, in forums like this, would that be a case of whoever the most senior here in RIU become the holy than shit expert and everybody will just have to follow blindly? Who the hell are you to tell me to stop coming back here and stop posting my experiments?

I just fucking lost respect of you and I thought you're one of the few here who is educated, but I guess I'm wrong.

Best you actually go take classes in Botany.
We've meet before on this particular topic....we're not going on this route again.

Ummmm. The reason you keep hearing it is because its basic botany.

Leaves grow plants.
