led's are worth it, I built one last december and have since converted all of my rooms to vero 29's
the first grow I got .83 gpw, and they have gotten better every grow after , if you cant hit 1.3 gpw with a good led light something is wrong, I'm at 1.46 gpw with a 212 watt vero 29 i built ....

When will people get over this LED vs HID thing?
Does it matter how you put the light onto the plants?
Surely the results are what matter, Personally I'd rather have an ounce of good quality Cannabis than 2 ounces of shit air bud.
I'm an intelligent person beneath all the jokes, and I have done my own calculations, LED and HID vary so little in the bigger picture that arguing over which is better is futile.
I see people quoting umol and other numbers that mean nothing to our cultivating practises because there has been no real in depth scientific studies on growing indoor Cannabis by the people that are smart enough to document REAL facts. What the fuck does a umol measurement mean when no sod has actually done full on testing to see how many Cannabis needs. All we have is speculation from studies on other plants and comparisons to sunlight. And just because a manufacturer says it, doesn't mean its true. Those Youtube vids are done by growers not Scholar's.
And what really makes me laugh is the fact that I see people claiming better umol that DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO USE IT!! Get these great pieces of technology with all this hyper super great light from planet fucking Krypton then stick two shitty autos in 5 litre pots under them.

He does Big Bud and he does a cut of GSC, of course the Big Bud will yield more, but I know which I'd rather grow.

for OPs first question, reason i changed -For a small setup like below 400 watts of cobs you dont need a hole in the ceiling for heat extraction. especially stealthy runs in rental apartments.

I've grown with both and IMO Hps is not up to par with led, I'm talking about a high quality light ,ebay crappers are garbage and cfl would smoke one in a side by side, Both led and hps will grow plants fine, but led wins with less than comparable wattage (400 hps vs 210 led) , less heat , better spectrum ,longer life and in my experiences a slightly shorter flowering time , why whine and bitch about it though? If hps is your thing then run that shit , same with led. I know that i decided to see for myself and i took the time and money to build and test a diy light out.... I was more then impressed, so much so that i have replaced all hps lights in my rooms with less wattage leds and am now much happier with the results, JMO

yes, LED are fine for small grows, but they are too expensive for commercial, they can't penetrate a plant 6 ft tall. and all the pics of the bud i look at disgusts me. it looks awful. that's my opinion. watch all the butthurt that comes from my opinion.........................................wait for it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
