convince me led is worth it.

I think it was you that suggested the UVA/B with the HPS....great advice both for HID and LED supplement. How long you been running the led's? This in the oak cab?
I switched this run. Yes. In the oak cab I have 200 watt geyapex light with citizen cobs.

I am also testing a unit farm in my veg cab. It has single diodes. Cree and orsam. I'm fixing to do a single auto grow under it.

I did suggest uv. I'm not the first though. Makes better smoke.

For all those who switch back to HID during winter for the extra heat, might I suggest you consider using more insulation instead. You'll save money on power and you won't be giving up spectrum benefits.

As it is, all you're doing is cleverly disguising your space heater as a light bulb, lol
At -30 and still requiring ventilation, supplementary heat is a necessary evel, but your right lol. And really at lights out it's a mute point with only running one bloom room. And I prefer to think I'm disguising my light bulb as a heater ;). Honestly I think right now it's not like I need to switch running 1200 watts and like I said, here they are significantly higher, well they were, not sure how much pricing has dropped, I was looking last year.

I switched away from ventilating my room for temperature control, now it's easier to just add CO2. The room didn't get too hot due to water cooled air handlers.

Still have to keep it warm enough during dark cycle though.

As a year round grower now, I still revert back to my HPS in the winter since I rely on the heat from them (like @Budley Doright mentions). In the summer....not so much, which is why I built COB lights. Utilizing both HPS and COB for what my needs are & to fulfill the needs of my rooms. Since building the COB lights almost 2 yrs ago and appropriating the HID's for cooler temps/winter growing, my costs have gone down significantly on my summer electric bills and quality and weight have not suffered. The initial investment stings a little compared to HPS, but after seeing the reduction in utility bills over the summer months due to less wattage/heat/hvac usage I feel 100% justified in my build and know that the ROI is there within a couple years time due to the huge savings in the summer months. Considering I should get 6+ years from my led build, it will pay for itself and then some before I even have to think about replacing any cobs or drivers. Its all about making it work for YOUR situation.
That's when I'm sure it makes a huge amount of sense and the reason I head to the woods in May lol. It's a fuck load more work and it's a shit load more risk..... I like that ;).

I grow in a shed lol. I have one 10-3 wire feeding it and have no water. Yes I need to improve my infrastructure lol. That's kind of my point though, it's not a priority to switch and I'm sure that is the case for a few. As soon as I can build a 300 watt COB for $150 Canadian I'm in lol. That's like $20 US

For example I have problems of low temp in the winter and it's coming. I have a 2x2 tent so space is an issue, I can't place styrofoam inaide
Your fucked then lol. Insulation is always a good thing, not sure if the insulated bubble wrap would be worth the cost and effort to wrap the tent in but can't hurt. I build rooms in my shed with it and you can certaianly feel that it is insulating but by how much is probably negligible. I use the 3M spray adhesives to fasten it to my res's and walls.

GG go next. Cold in winter, damn hot in summer
I'll throw all my shit out of the window
