I think he's running the boards at about 150w a piece.
My bad. That's going to straight kill it over a 4x8.That's correct 150 watts each

At 75W apiece, those boards almost don't need heatsinks...
Nice build!

Ok i started one "From DEs to LEDs" not sure how to like it thoughtAt 75W apiece, those boards almost don't need heatsinks...

Now link us to the thread you're starting about what you're growing with 'em!
They are the storage shelving from Home Depot.. lol Just what a QB DIYer could use instead of aluminum angle.. Super easy and quick..Nice build are those refrigerator grates there mounted too, thats great totally gonna use that.
I can't tell because of the angle, but are those double-board fixtures or single-board? And what size is your tent?"Now with double the fun!"
single board. tent is 5x5 ft. I realize I'll probably need another board or two to fully saturate the tent, but for now this is good enough.I can't tell because of the angle, but are those double-board fixtures or single-board? And what size is your tent?
Hell yeah, man. Actually, I'd be love to to find out how two boards would perform in that space. I'd go a full grow before adding any more!single board. tent is 5x5 ft. I realize I'll probably need another board or two to fully saturate the tent, but for now this is good enough.
Im wondering the same thing, It was just the beginning of this month that they had the last batch out, but I dont know when the last time before that was. Im guessing another month or two but I dont need my light complete until December. When is the next quantum board restock ?
I have a question with regards to the drivers, I have the MW HLG-320-C1400B... I think thats plenty to do up to 4 QBs isnt it??? i got pretty confused on them. I know I wanted dimmable which this is.
Anyways, is there some reason why in a dedicated closet/room that the driver cant be mounted outside the closet and just have longer wiring ran in to the light? I mean obviously one would have to have enough wired coiled or spooled up to allow height adjustment, but I dont see that being an issue.
Or do the drivers themselves make an inconsequential amount of heat? my closet will be ok on temps in summer most, but not all of the time. I figure if it puts off heat ill just put it outside, maybe mount it in a small electrical box.
Question for those more experienced with these Meanwell drivers: my first 135w light kit tops out at 160 watts at the wall (measured with a Kill-A-Watt). Seems par for the course, based on posts I've seen by others. However, my second build, using the same model driver (HLG-120H-54A) hits 172 watts at the wall when maxed. I turned it down to the high 150s, but I'm just a little perplexed by the difference. Any pointers?
Am I correct in assuming that I shouldn't allow the driver to run in excess of 160 watts? In both cases, you've pushed the drivers to their limits. The over-voltage/over amperage range will vary from driver to driver, its normal.
Thanks man, so i eventually need 4 quantum boards then. Ive got a 4x3 dedicated room im working on, cant decide how many boards i should go with. Prob gonna start with two for now.You could run 4 QB288 in series or, 2 Series/Parallel strings of QB304. The QB304s will make best use of the driver, using its full capacity. I'm running 4 QB304 on a 320H driver and pulling 363 watts at the wall.
The drivers do make some heat, I mounted all of mine outside the tent. I ran 18gauge, stranded, twin lead from the driver to the first light. It carries the load just fine and is flexible, making it easier to run in a tent or closet. Use solid 18-20 gauge to connect the boards together.
Am I correct in assuming that I shouldn't allow the driver to run in excess of 160 watts?
Thanks!Well...... that driver seems to be going way over. I'd keep it to 150 watts if it were me.

Some 65W kits will be available in next 1-3 days. Would be announced here
Next batch should be available end of next week. may get delayed by 2-3 days
65W Lamp
Go buy your own driver if you would like to just get the board from HLG ans save few $$ . Arrow has them, free shipping for $25

@pop22 , just found out about this driver recently. So i could not recommend you on earlier.

For those who are wondering what is NEMA 1-15p
This "2-prong" design, with two flat parallel non-coplanar blades and slots, is used in most of North America and on the east coast of South America on lamps; consumer electronics such as clocks, radios, and battery chargers; and other double insulated small appliances that don't require grounding (earthing).
