To give a bit more info, the smaller lights use a Meanwell HLG-240H-tC1400B driver, whereas the larger lights use their own proprietary drivers that do not feature dimming. I believe that the proprietary drivers also run at around 1400ma, so you get a small boost to the lumen output over the 1050ma on the data sheet at the cost of some efficiency - not a huge difference from my understanding.

Still, 2 of these CLU048-1212 chips are roughly equivalent to a Vero 29 4000k "D" type chip with better coverage for small grows. Not a bad investment for those who can't (or won't) DIY and don't want to shell out the cash for Timber or TastyLED lights.
That's fine and everyting and a noble thought, but the cooling has been dialed back a little bit. ok imho too much, but too each his own. That just needs to be made clear. Nothing new, wish they would just stop cutting corners on the cooling, that is still the downfall of any of the "sub" Top shelf lights....since they stopped using slugs, well not kind or lush or black dog or....lol

anyhoo...

Are the lmp4 and lmb4 using different chips or wattage? They both look to be 4 citizen 1212 cobs one in a square pattern and one in a long line but you both listed different prices.

Around USD250-300 for the LM-P4. Probably lower with bulk orders for resellers.
Seems the lmb4 would be about the same price. Same parts are in them. I quoting the 400 buck mark because that's what I remember from my emails with them. I can't find the exact email but sent a new one asking to be sure.

I will correct it if that's wrong.

Bigger or pin heatsinks would be on my wishlist too.

My practical experience is that they only get warm to the touch with the fans going - even if one failed the second would push enough air to keep them from overheating too much.

seems like an efficient design. keeping heatsink weight down helps everything from mfg to shipping. maybe folks have been over sizing their heat sinks. I use active cooling with removal from grow area via inline exhaust, no heat at all. I know chilledgrowlights uses smaller heat sinks than average and they do quite well with active heat removal. I think actively removing heat from lighting instead of spreading it out with a fan is better but if amps are kept low with respect to volts power is lower and less heat. the light seems to be light and works fine from what you say nd what we see. Folks wanted inexpensive solutions and it seems they are showing up finally. This should help bring costs down for the consumer making it a buyers market instead of a sellers market.

Lets see the math then.....instead of blowhardiness....:peace:

They look weak as shit and sorry you just got around to designing your 1st light and now you think you know something.....lol

They work just fine. Temps have not gotten above 80. The heat sinks are just warm to the touch after running for hours.

One fan goes down it will be fine. Two fans and that's where the problems begin.

I would agree that using a one piece heat sink would double the cooling capacity if both fans went out.

I move a lot of air in my cab and grow in a cool basement.

I regret not testing a bigger light.
I got the biggest one they offered and it pulls 364 watts at the wall. Day 21 flower here. It is not dimmable and I believe it isn't a meanwell driver I never cracked it open yet. I have a thread going. I do have my timber veros running at like 40 watts each as side lighting because the light doesn't fully cover a 4x4.

I believe the bigger ones run a proprietary driver.

There is one bigger than that one. It has nine cobs.

My light is performing great. Its not hot. The plants seem to like the light. One is putting out some good growth.

I will update pics in a bit.

There is no need for that mate no one is forcing you to buy the light or even view the thread, if you don't have anything constructive to say it best you not say anything in the community spirit of the forum.

I would appreciate that it not degrade to flinging crap.

I also understand that people may have ideas for things that need to be changed.

This thread is to test the light and see what it can do. It is also to help work the kinks out.

I'm glad to see more options and companies making these lights. It benefits all of us.
