okay, so you're for Bernie now..welcome aboard:clap:
I certainly am for the reforms Bernie will get done through his centrist white policies. There are a large number of moderate conservatives who will be glad to get behind campaign finance reform and stiffer regulations on Wall Street.

Socially conservative and fiscally liberal or moderate white voters will get what they want. I don't see the conservatives that Bernie is sheep-dogging getting behind single payer health care or Universal Medicare. I'm guessing that single payer healthcare will get swept under the same rug where Bernie and his white followers want to sweep his scandal.

But that's OK,

Our Reform is all about continuance of systemic racism. If that suits you, then fine. Also, I can get behind booting the right wing GOP congress in 2018. Even Steve Bannon says what you, pad and st0w are repeating.

I'm in total agreement that some of the Sanders voters would rather have Trump than Clinton. Isn't that what I just said earlier? Isn't that what you and Pad have been droning on about? So I agree with you that an important fraction of the white population must be catered to and their white pride salved in order to get rid of Nazi control of Congress.

It's been obvious to me for a long time that Bernie gives voice to privileged white boys who wants what he wants. 34% of the non-white occupants of this nation are just going to have to suck it up for another 10 or 20 years. Also women in many states are going to see their civil rights eroded. Because Obama and Clinton were too socially radical for the white majority. So, we'll get the economic and political reforms that privileged white people want and the non-white population will just have to deal with systemic color-based racism for a while longer. At least Nazis will be out of power. So there is that.

glad to have you on Bernie's team!

YOU and your ilk were very crucial in getting him elected. we told YOU what would happen (hillary/trump within margin of error; bernie/trump +12 polled) with your Hillary or nothing activities last year. now you got what you wanted. You should be happy.
LOL

Returning to your vomit again? Yuck. The only thing worse than watching a dog slurping up their vomit is watching them slurping up their old vomit.

Is this where you send me another story about helpless animals being tortured?

Love you too.

It's very strange that you hate the politician most aligned with your positions, needs and ideals more than any other.

One would even think that's hypocritical.

When you say hypocrite, I laugh.

I don't hate Bernie. How many times do I have to say that I support what Bernie is doing? What he's doing is a very smart move to appeal to moderate conservative and moderate liberal white voters. To do so, he's abandoning minority group's issues.

I hate that white people like you, Pad and st0 are abandoning the civil rights movement. But African Americans are used to this. They've seen it before, are seeing it today and will see it again some time in the future. I don't hate you, I hate your facile claim of being liberal when you are selling out to systematic racism.

So, really, I'm not castigating Bernie. He's being smart. I'm castigating his followers for acting in their own self interest and not the best interests of all the people of this country. Just their own self interest. Disappointed.

I shouldn't be disappointed, I should have seen this coming. I knew something wasn't right when Bernie went all-in with divisive politics with the Democratic Party. He's distancing himself from African American and Hispanic Americans and cuddling up to the white majority by being absolutely silent about uncomfortable issues like immigration and Black Lives Matter. He never was interested in those issues. The demographics of who voted for him reflect how each group cares about those issues too. White people make up 66% of the population and no changes are going to happen without a sizable portion of that group behind it. And so, enter higher taxes on the wealthy while cop violence on black people is flushed from political consideration.

But I do see the handwriting on the wall. Just like in the mid 70's when the Vietnam war ended, anti-war white boomers abandoned their black and brown brothers to go to discos and live the high life. After 8 years of a black president during which there was much talk of breaking glass ceilings and ending our racist justice system, Bernie and his reform movement are absolutely silent about on those topics. "Our Revolution" is retrograde in some areas like women's right to choose. I think we are going to get some economic reform, maybe higher taxes on the wealthy, reform campaign financing and then kick the can of systematic and institutional racism down the road. Why not? White people have it pretty good in this system compared to non-whites.

I said Bernie Drew voters who were otherwise never going to vote for a Democrat
I'd love to read a synopsis of their very unusual political philosophy.

I read or heard on TV somewhere that 12% of Bernie supporters voted for 45 or didn't vote.

That just doesn't make one iota of sense.

I voted for Sanders in the primary, I'd never vote for 45 for anything. He called Bernie a communist over and over again.

How the fuck can someone agree philosophically with Sanders and then do 180° turn to 45 and justify all that in their mind? Schizophrenia?

Ok you beat me to it.

What i found most interesting was the preventative of people who voted for Bernie in the primary but had no intention of voting for a Democrat in the general.

I'm honestly a bit puzzled by this. Is it an indication that people were looking for change, an 'anything BUT the status quo' sentiment?

I also wonder about the huge percentage of eligible voters out there who... don't. There's no way they're all satisfied with how things are going in the country. Did they give up? I know that some of them simply can't see how their vote matters- they've told me as much.

What would it take to get them to come to the ballot box?

Is the percentage of Americans who bitch but won't vote THAT high?

I thought the article was a revelation. Glad you liked it. I did too. It's gotten me into a bit of a depression. Not knives to the wrist kind of stuff but sad. I'd like to revisit later on, a bit buzzed at the moment. Please reassure @twostrokenut that I'm not lost to a meth pipe but not able to reply to his mundane post.

The number of Americans who just don't care about politics IS depressing. Clearly, they've bought the story that it doesn't really affect them, when you and I (and most of those frequenting this section) certainly know better.

I'm going to have to study those numbers carefully to see what other insights might be gleaned from them.

that's EXACTLY what they were saying.

I had no intention of voting hillary either.

there was noone in the dem primary BUT sanders and clinton.

anything BUT elitism and status quo..the pragmatic.

people have been ready for a change since 2008 and their voting patterns prove this.

it would take bernie to win them back..but he'd do it.
