How does one figure the needed heat sink?
@nogod_ had a valid point that they should have rotated the heatsinks 90 degrees and stuck a fan over each one to improve cooling, but that would have increased the BOM:) of course they didn't listen.

As is, it seems OK? imo. if your ambient temps are in check......for peace of mind down the road=== move the MW to the top of the case(or remote) and replace the fan driver and fans for more reliable ones(noctua), easy with the wagos......and it should be solid for years, heatsink/cob swaps will be more advanced.

^^^^^my opinions are based on your pics and aren't accurate obviously, best is to temp gun the heatsink at full draw and see.

good luck

It seems fine. It ran a whole cycle and never felt warm. On the case or the air coming out of it. It also felt just warm around the cob.

I'm sure ill upgrade it at some point.

I'm hoping that That's the reason that they sent these out for the cost of shipping to get feed back and make changes if need be.

As it stands now if having to pay full price diy is the better option.

Also removing the secondary lenses is a quick fix if it starts getting hot on you.............I wouldn't keep them on regardless imo.

I was wondering about that. What is the benefit of not running the lenses? Better light spread? Being able to run closer to the plants?

I know. I've been busy. Ill get some plant pics up.

I will say temps are fine and the fans and other parts are ok.

The heat sinks are just warm to the touch. I need to order a new ir temp gun.

I'm not sure of the price on these units. I think with a little tweaking these fixtures would be a viable option for people looking for prebuilt fixtures.

The lenses focuses the light right? What's the difference with and with out the lenses? How much light is lost with them?

What about the difference in height running vs not?
Lenses come in lots of configurations, even asymmetric options.

I ran 80 degree lenses because I wanted to aim the light below the lamp without a lot of wasteful scatter. I think the guesstimates above about light loss through lenses are a bit extreme; if it was really 15% no one would ever use a lens at all! It's closer to 5%, or even less with the glass lenses I chose.

A tent makes lenses less necessary.

I also designed my modules to be run adjacent to one another in arrays, making scattering losses even less desirable.

One more difference (besides the fact that mine are water cooled, lol) is that I placed my chips in pairs at each end of the bar. I did this so that it would create an even light distribution pattern beneath it and when mounted in arrays, the light pattern was even throughout.

ah you hate physics:)............light passing through matter and blaaaah, very minimal loss!lol

So it was sphere tested with the cxb's last year that a 90 degree Angelina REFLECTOR had a 8% loss NEW====only hampering the output partially vs complete with a lens. 15% might even be conservative with those thick iron glass Chinese lenses honestly, ......not extreme at all.

I can put up the test results again if you want???.............let me know

There was little to no veg time on these 3 plants. I normally like to veg for 30 days at least.

I'm working on a small cabinet I used to use. It will house a mother plant.

I lost a good clone I had and lucky me my buddy still had a couple cuts. Super easy to clone. Cut and put in a cup of soil and has roots in days.

I'm thinking ill keep it perpetual but scrog. Have three in flower while having one or two in my veg cab weaving the tops through the screen.

I usually ignore your constant chatter but I have a bet to propose....
If ebb gets a gram over a half oz u fuk off for good and stop leaving behind your troll droppings
I've put him on ignore.

I don't know why he is so tore up. He is welcome to leave this section if its such a joke.

I've provided pics of my grows. I've hit well over 10-11 zips with a t5. A t5. Something people claim won't grow bud very good.

I've never made the claim of being able to grow pounds with my small cab. Its a small setup for personal smoke.

A smaller space doesn't make me stupid or a bad grower.

Yodaweed is a loser and miserable in life. He is out to do nothing but make people feel the same.

We will see what it yields. I was redoing things and those 3 are all I got to flower right now. More will be coming.

I've got some a bit smaller and a bunch of seedlings in veg. Ill either continue to sog as I get more plants or go back to scrog.

Either way, I'm happy doing what I am and I'm quit confident in my grow knowledge and so are the people that ask me questions.
