True.I just know they will do better if you water them sparingly at first, this makes it root pretty aggressively. If you then later take on some method of promoting air pruning future plants it will get even better.
By no means should your medium ever go bone dry But you gotta make that seedling work. Out in nature it would be germinating somewhere out in the open sun and will have to do the same to flourish and reproduce.
Worse, water can displace air in the soil, drowning the roots. The smaller the plant, the easier this is to do.
