This was my first ever concert at like 13 year old... got offered acid-laced watermelon by a little person with hair down to his ankles, got propositioned by some cross dressing hookers, and puked in the bushes. Needless to say, I was hooked.

The drill press is well worth it if you can find one for a decent price. You can do it with a hand drill, but it's such a hassle. Arctic is the way to go IMO, I went with Coolermaster cause I'm, how do you say, "thrifty" lol

Found one for £63 with 2 years warranty at screwfix. It should do what I want it to do anyway. I'm usually thrifty with most shit but this seems like the kinda project that I should buy right. Rather than buy twice lol. It will only cost like £20 for 4 Arctic fans anyway

That's all I wanted really. I don't mind soldering. unless there is any major reason it's a bad idea

Personally, I would rather have the solid connection of a solder joint. Plus there's no chance of corrosion getting between the contacts. I can see how in a production scenario the solderless holders would be much better though.

Drill press ordered. Will be delivered before 6.30pm tomorrow. 3 heatsinks arrived today too. Still gotta order the 4th

3500Ks arrived today and holders. I really can't justify another £100 plus on more holders. Cobs and a heatsink so I'm going for 9 on 3 heatsinks. Leaving a big enough gap for 2 more b profile heatsinks in the future to run some far reds. This is the kinda project you can really start running away with yourself if you're not careful

Just starting to size things up a bit now I can.

Still need the 3000ks to come though. Need to order fans and wire too. Just gonna go for 1mm strand. On the advice of @xX_BHMC_Xx I know you said 0.893 but 1mm is easier to come by.

Started attaching heatsinks to the frame. Drill press was off by a few degrees. So im gonna have to fettle (English for fuck about with till it's right) it to absolutely flat

All 3 heatsinks attached. It may seem strange but I'm about to build the frame I need around that. Instead of the frame first

Drill press fettled. All is nice and smooth there now.

M6 eye bolts fixed to the corners. These will be trimmed. Re threaded in a die and a dome nut attached to each one for aesthetics.

Steel framing angle 25 x 25mm to run the fans in. (still needs bolting in. But it's measured up anyway).

Driver mounted to the front. The entire unit has been designed to effectively be one giant heatsink.
Voltmeter ammeter will be housed beside the driver.
Fan speed controller between the heatsinks on the other side. So all aspects of voltage control are done from the front of tent/room.

Drilled out for the cob holders. Had to order some m3 screws though so I'm on hold for the minute unfortunately
