Ello folks, joined this forum to get a second opinion and think I might stick around since I'm seeing a lot of informative posts.
This is my first grow. Hydro the first time around. So basically let me give a run-down of my setup. It was low-budget and more of an experiment than an actual attempt at bud production.
Strain is an indica. Germinated seeds from a local grower.
3x3ft plywood 'closet' is the growspace.
Inside of the closet is lined with bubble insulation, and then covered with mylar. No crinkles in the paneling what-so-ever. There is a hole in the back with a vent & fan which goes out a nearby window next to my AC unit.
Due to my budget, I'm stuck using fluorescent lighting. CFLs weren't an option right now since I didn't want to drop that much money, so I decided to try my own ideas. I found a bunch of old 2 foot ballasts in the garage and decided to use them. At the top of the box is 4 typical 2 foot, 40watt fluro ballasts. I'm using 2 typical white bulbs and 2 fish tank bulbs.
On the sides of the growspace I have 2x 225 red & blue LED grow light panels, above and below each panel are 2 more fluro ballasts with 1 white and 1 fish bulb.
I'm using a 20-20-20 mix for vegetative and am still deciding what to do for flowering/budding.
The hydro system is a Stealth Hydroponics kit. Air pump, bought a 200watt fishtank heater for water temp. The box sits around 78-80 degrees with the rest of my house at 70.
So far I have 3 plants, they're about 10 inches in length. I'm using weights and twine to train them to bush since I don't have much space. I'll get pictures when I can find my camera.
I guess the biggest question is, does this sound like it might actually work? I know fluros aren't ass good as HID, but I've seen some results... not GREAT results, but results never-the-less.
