HGL240H-1440B and 5 Cobs issue

Hey there! I can run 5 cxb3590 on one 240/1440B driver pulling 270 watts out of the wall, however, it only drives 4 Vero 29's at 220Watts out of the wall, with 5th Vero added it's light up no problem but still, with only 220 Watts out of the wall. Does that mean somehow driver don't have enough juice to run 5 Veros, but no problem going higher in wattage with cxb3590? 0_o May be 72V vero ended up in the string by an accident.. Trying to wrap my head around it - any thoughts?

The vero run slightly higher voltage than cree so maybe you hit the limiter in the driver.if you have the dim leads wired to pot try removing those and run driver wide open and see if it powers past 240w

I think the issue may be that the one I have crees on are B, while the one with Vero is A. Thanks for ringing the right bell!

It wouldn't matter if it's A or B version still has the same forward voltage

There is nothing wrong here. This is what happen when you put LED's on a driver that doesn't match.

There is not enough voltage to power the vero at the designated current(1400ma). The driver then has to compensate the current to match the voltage given...which corresponds to a lower current and thus lower power draw. This is not good for your driver and may cause longevity issues. As well as a unwanted "humming noise" sometimes.


Feel free to tell timber this issue as they continues sell no matching setups. But when I bring it up "I'm a dick". Just saying.

So I guess that how it goes with 1440 drivers, Vero and CXB3590?

240 takes 4
320 takes 6
480 takes 9

Are there certain known issues or ??? This is first I've read.
