How to salvage moldy bud and get a great tasting smoke

You can visibly remove mold any wich way you like but "mold" the kind we are speaking of is rarely just "surface" only. Wash ,scrub, shake lick the mold off however you go at it will not remove the "mold" from the bud period. It washes away the fruiting bodies of the mold (this is where you all think it has gone away) but you are still smoking a whole lot of mold you think is gone. Moldy bud gets shit canned period. Smoking the mold can cause lung infections bronchitis ect.

Yes, preventing mold is where it's at. Same goes for bugs.
But saying that you'd throw away a crop with mold spores is saying you'd toss cannabis that's grown outdoors. Mold spores are everywhere. They are in greenhouses and they are probably in your grow room unless you've got a HEPA filter on the intake.
Bugs are a different matter, but they are still much easier to get than most people realize. Dogs are notorious for spreading spider mites, and anything that smells will attract fungus gnats. I swear those little fuckers wait by the door for someone to open it. Grr...
Healthy plants with high brix are the best defense, but plants gradually weaken after they are halfway through flower. This is when you need to be most vigilant.
Just mowed the yard?
Take a shower and put on fresh clothes before going anywhere near your grow room!
Here's a rare pic of a weed mold spore. 20170404_141630.jpg

my indoor grow rooms are located in a barn that has a dirt floor. I park all of my unwashed lawn equipment in that space next to the grow room door.
lawn mower, brush hog, rototiller, pressure washer too. When I'm done cutting five acres of lawn I pull my tractor right into the space next to my new dirt mixing tray, by the cement mixer.
My chickens have free run of the dirt floor space, so does our farm cat and my precious jack russel. My JR works with me in the grow space sometimes. I dont change my shoes in or out of the room daily, I have no hepa filters employed ever.
I leave my grow room door open to the space often when working or cleaning the grow space. ALL of my soil, used and new is stored, mixed and distributed in that space to. My chickens love to roll in my new dirt more than my old dirt, I dont mind.

I never used pest strips or pest bombs, never saw a mite in my grow space. I'm guessing its because I dont buy house plants and never invited an infected stranger clone into my grow room, or, because those with mites keep it going by doing exactly what others with mites advise them to do, or maybe I'm just lucky all these years.:bigjoint:

my dehumidifier has prevented mold from flourishing all that time indoors, luckily

You understand without a special type of filter you will still end up with mold spores In your extract
yep, but they and anything bad should all be dead by the bath if not the ethanol. Then being heated at such high temps by a nail should sterilize anything that may be left.

As for mold being preventable..yes up to a point it is. Unless you grow outside like I do then most seasons its a constant.

Is ethanol used in making an alcohol tincture?

Do you think the cannabutter process will also kill anything bad?

water, iso, alcohol, vodka, urine, bleach, hydrogen peroxide, soap, olive oil, peppermint oil ,rosemary oil, thyme oil,
all kill mold. if you dont mind the taste of dead moldy bits have at it. your risk is working with the infected material, inhaling live spores

Yes, simple process to make oil or shatter or whatever you would like to call it. Nice and safe to if using natural evaporation and not a stove top. Will be giving my first go this harvest.

Im not sure about the butter. Ive made it a few times but with uninfected trim.

I just had to pull a plant that had some mold and had turned hermi on me as well. That just go a H2o2 bath and is drying. That will end up as trim for oil.

It's the black mold that is dangerous. My plant mold is light blue.

You have never worked in a food grading factory or a canning factory i gather? Nothing is thrown away.

I will never eat canned vegetables or use packet gravy's (esp the dried ones) again.
when young, yes. I know better now. I grow the bulk of our own food. I do enjoy a cool glass of organic pus store bought milk I admit, and I go to great lengths to avoid mold outbreaks in my medical rooms. My efforts are successful year after year. I dont have mites ever and i dont have mold outbreaks. C'mon Skippy's, you can do it too!!

Ill add. My backyard plants rarely have mold. They are in pots and i can controll the environment to an extent. The bush plants can and do suffer most years. Esp the top colas of cause.

Over the years ive grown in a few diffent climates. Where i am at the moment is deffinalty the most challenging.
I have also grown inside a few times over the decades and can also say i have never had mold or mites inside. Even running HID's in an apartment without any air conditioning in Western Sydney's hot and humid summers.

So will this method of soaking for 24hrs for 2 weeks not work?

What's the verdict here? I have a quarter pound of some shit that had some mold on it. I'm currently in the process of doing the 24 hour water soak in glass jars and will put it in my dehumidifier once it's done. I'll even do it for a month if I have to. I really dont want to have to throw away this qp. Will this work or do I run a large risk of injuring my lungs after this process?

And yet it's still not very clear to me. You say 7 years of input as if this is a highly responded to thread but there's only 3 pages of replies. Some ppl say yay and some say nay. I just want to make sure I'm not putting myself in danger. If you don't wish to actually give any input then you don't need to respond at all.
