ill take my chances and would let them leave without being shot !! (:
as I said..legal in cannada makes it nearly impossible to use a gun in self defense
locked and amo separate, makes it that way!!
You can store ammo and firearm together, just not loaded.

still have a gun lock to deal wtih and yes I know some can be easily removed...plastic even lol

did you know a room is considered a lock? or even a bike lock that can run through 10 guns at once and be cut off is a second lol

My brother in law is RCMP, I've had this discussion many time. I asked him about defending your home with a shotgun with non lethal rounds (rubber or bean bags). If I shot an intruder in my home I would be charged with a more serious offence than the intruder, lethal round or not. His advice was to have a base ball bat and mitt handy in your house and vehicle. Your better off defending your self with a bat than a gun, the mitt nearby will defer the intent that your primary use for the bat is defence.Ps I own several restricted and non restricted firearms.Itsme.

Flame Throwers are a nice but bulky alternative to domestic 'weapons'

just ensure you are up with the fire insurance

good luck

I store my guns in a gun safe with trigger locks inside a locked and dead bolted room, I have a bat under my bed and one hidden by my front and back door. Batters up!.......

to have a loaded hand gun in cannada just sitting around would guarantee someone gets shot
we are a parented country lol dont touch that you might take your eye outl;;;;

its just nature to pick one up by someone who has never before and pull that hair trigger by mistake.... happens to often
even when you know that all guns should be treated as loaded and to never put your finger on the trigger or point in in a dangerous direction...
still happens ...

How's that working for you folks? Lol

Itsme
Actually it working out pretty good, te accidental deaths have dropped partially cause when you get your permit, you are taught what to do etc etc. Knock on wood we haven't had a problem.

My personal feeling is all about teaching gun safety to children and adults as well. Small children from the age of 3 to 7 or 8, houldn't really see a gun and know whats its for, beyond that, you can start teach with an adult usually with a pellet gun and a bb gun, when you hit 13 then you get to know the real thing. For my kids, I've always told them before you use a gun always use your head first, this is the last resort and you can bring anything back if you make a mistake......we as parents if we decide to go shooting need to teach that to the younger generation and so on

Very few break-in's in Canada are more than an attempt at property theft. Yes that is quite dismaying in itself. But there is little need in Canada for keeping a weapon loaded and handy. Unless of course somebody has your number and you live in that world of near violence. As much as I'd like to hurt the break in guy, I'd hate to shoot somebody for that alone. Scare em off with the gun...sure why not. If threatened by violence well of course then self defense become needed. But could be too late to help yourself at that point.
More home invasions are fire arms related than break and enters. And most home invasions are not random either. It's usually targeted at know valuables or a certain individual being there. Not always, but mostly. Home invasion outside of our largest cities is rare in Canada.

At this point seeing as a know more then 5 people that have been murdered by gun, and a lot more I do not know, I would not be mad at a total gun ban.
Maybe if you had a friend with their brains blown out all over the sidewalk you will feel the same way.
Do you own any guns? Your pretty misinformed if you do and " I wouldn't listen to that guy " if I recall hearing somewhere. You seem scared by guns.....how come?

Are you saying you personally knew 5 people murdered by guns in Canada? Well I'm saying that's BULLSHIT and call that a outright lie. It would be highly unusual for one person to know 5 people murdered by guns in Canada. Unless it was once incident.
You seem to have story for every occasion I've noticed. How convenient. You're not talking to children here ya know..we listen...we remember. Keep that in mind when you make shit up.
Even your above quote is fuzzy at best You make it sound like you know 5 people with their brain blown out....uh-huh. I bet you don't even know one person personally that happened to.

Seems highly unlikely anyone person would know 5 folks murdered by a gun in Canada unless it's in one mass incident, but here's your chance to PROVE me wrong. Please link to the five murders or the mass incident. so ya...I call bullshit

That's going to be a tough one to prove, majority of them are when I was growing up before Internet.

1974 uncle in RCMP gunned down in Coverdale BC
80's best friends dad was murdered in Maple Ridge BC surname Davies
90's a friends dad murdered his wife's boyfriend 2 doors down from me Port Coquitlam, gun jamed or he would have killed whole family. surname Mcloed
90's buddy shot in gang war in Burnaby BC, search Bindy Johal
90's buddy blew his brains out in Park, because of heroin addiction. Surname Trupke
2013 hit put out on couple in Maple Ridge watching a grow op. Surname Main.

Be my guest googling links, I'm not going to waste my time hunting down reports that are 40 years old.
