recreational pot is dead under trump......
Is that good or bad for us?I didn't vote for it
Let's cap deductions while we're at it;

A mortgage interest deduction is a great idea, but once you're buying over a million dollars worth of private residence I don't think the taxpayers should be subsidizing it.
That sounds like you want to punish a person for being successful, whats good for one is good for all.

No, it's the refusal to subsidize wretched excess at the expense of the society that made it possible for you to succeed.

Why should those who make MORE money pay LESS tax? Defend that position. If you can.

I don't know where you live but most of the houses in west LA are close to 2 mill in value we are middle class working people that deserve to be treated the same as every other person.this deduction makes it possible for more people to afford their own place and gives me a bigger selection of buyers when it's time to cash out.why should one person get a benefit because they make less money when they had the same opportunity to jobs and education?

I think its most fair for everyone to pay the same percentage of taxes. Most everyone has the opportunity to be successful. They're just not that good at creating their own "luck". I know what you're saying though.

After the first million, how much more do people need?

Why not support the ability of people to meet their basic needs and be a part of the economy?

There is no such thing as equal opportunity, that's a myth.

Flat taxes are very regressive. Poor people need every dime of their income while rich people by definition need only a tiny fraction. So why should they both pay the same tax rate?

I know many poor people who have had every opportunity at their fingertips that successful people have, yet they didnt take advantage of the opportunities. I know people who grew up much more fortunate than me & now they are broke with no job & relying on the government (our tax payer dollars) to provide for them and their familly, where they had much more opportunities than I have had in life and could of had a huge jump start in life due to their families success. I grew up poor. Yet I have been much more successful than a lot of my friends who grew up much more fortunate. And in general poor people are very greedy by nature. (Not all, but a lot) Rich people are generally not. (Of course there are exceptions - some definitely are) I give as much as I possibly can to the homeless, different charities, etc. But 95% of people DO have the same opportunities or.at least can create the same opportunities if motivated/smart enough. It is your exact mentality that has people poor and.keeps people poor and keeps people poor. Im glad our tax structure is the way it is and I hope it stays that way for a long time. The rich pay less taxes because they are smarter than the poor. Simple as that. The poor have tried to reverse the tax laws to tax the rich many times and it NEVER works for them because the rich outsmart them everytime. Look at history... And history will continue to repeat itself over and over.

Also I will note - I know millionaires who give away 100s of thousands each year. If they had only a fraction of their income, how are they suppose to give? I know that is what has motivated me to make a lot of money. To give back to my familly financially and to give to those in need. You cant help others out if you have nothing to give.

When do all americans get the same educational opportunities? How can all have the chance to thrive when they were never given a fair chance from childhood? Your view seems really narrow. So your poor family was humble but the rest of the poor are greedy? I guess your parents were not as smart as the rich?

I was not given a "fair" chance from childhood... I guess not.. Although now they are business owners who have done pretty well for themselves. Just grew up poor. They figured out how to come out of it though.

because they can....the 1% have killed the middle class
That's not a valid argument in my opinion. They worked to have and get where they are. Why do they get punished for that? All those 1%ers make businesses run that hire thousands of employees and gives them all opportunities.

The only people that have killed the middle class are themselves. I am part of the middle class and I don't have any issue making ends meat and I don't complain about being middle class. If I was unhappy I would go get further education and open doors to other employment opportunities. We all know what it takes to get somewhere. The question is how much do you want it and do you want to put in the effort.
