Calcium defiency early

My first grow week 3 from seedling! Starting to see calcium defiency on leaves. I don't have access to cal-mag... Can I mix domolite lime in water? Also I'm using soiless mix! I use gh floraseries, the only bottle inside the box that contains calcium is the gh micro @5.00% calcium.

And yes I started to feed them lightly 1/2 strength of what they recommend. I use a moisture probe reader. I water them 2 times per week.

How much do you water? Make sure tk get 20-30% runoff to prevent salt build up.

Feed half strength and feed, water, feed, water, feed etc.

Or feed quarter strength or less and feed very watering.


I wouldnt worry about those spots.

I never made them runoff when watering yet, makes sense when thinking about it. Such a valuable piece of information I took for granted that could of fucked me in the long run! Thanks man

did my first run off watering. Also, is keeping my light close to have no vertical growth a bad thing? It's starting to get cluster fucked

Looks a lot better. I wouldn't worry about keeping the light close. It will stretch in flower.

Topping does not stress plants at all, that's a calcium issue going on.

Topping them does cause stress. They stall for a bit. Some worse than others.

Don't give the op bs info. Brown spots are not always calcium.

If you read the thread the op was watering with nutes with no run off. Led to a bit of salt build up. Barely noticeable.

Those spots were a combo of feeding and watering technique. Those have been corrected and the plants look better.

I zoomed in on the last set of pics posted and I cant see the spots.

I would hold off on giving them anything.

lt varies by strain. Some don't take well to it and has nothing to do with the skill of the grower.

If you're saying you have never had one slow for a few days after topping you are lying.

I read a post of yours from 2012 where you say topping is not stressful and redistributes auxins.

That is half correct. It does redistributes auxins. It does it by breaking apical dominance (Christmas tree structure). Lst does the same thing. Any training method that gives you more than one main cola does the same thing.

Topping is not extremely stressful compared to other types of plant stress. It does stress them and slow them down.

I have done dozens and dozens of different strains over many, many years and never ever had an issue with stress, that would constitute droopyness, deficiencies or other ailments that the plant would show but please tell us the strains that do not react well to topping so we can avoid the problem.

I'm not saying it causes deficiencies.

It stalls them for a bit. They have to recover then start growing again.

Not once did I say those spots were from topping.

The strains that stall more than others are true landrace or heirloom varieties. Hawaiian skunk haze I grew a few years back hated topping. It would stall for a few weeks before it started growing again.

A lot of breeders now are putting out f1 crosses. The offspring are uniform and perform the same. The reason they do it is to make people buy more seeds for the same results. If you cross f1 and make f2 seeds there will be many different phenos. F1 crosses have hybrid vigor and will grow and recover faster than landrace or heirloom varieties. Its the same with most seeds sold at farm supply stores. It makes you come back for more seeds.

Back on point. The spots are not from topping. Never said that. The spots were from improper feeding and watering technique. That's been corrected and the plants have recovered.

You know very well that plants stall a bit when topped.

Off course it does, if stress is involved then that is an operator error.
