Hiya RIU community,
So, about a week or so ago, I had germinated two feminized RQS seeds.
My newbiness and impatience got the best of me, and I ended up loving the girls to death before they ever got a proper chance at life.
So, for experience's sake (and to complement harvest), I've planted some bagseed. I tried germinating eight, but only five have opened three days later.
I used the paper towel-between-two-plates method (scoff all you want at the plate-dome, it has always worked for me -- bagseed that doesn't germ just ain't good, so w/e). I keep the plate-dome on top of an old cardboard fan box, with a 34W placed inside horizontally so as to create a heat pad effect.
Anyway, the gang (can't call them the "girls") seems to be growing quite healthily. The jiffy pellets I soaked in 6.0-6.3 pH water for 12-36h (depending on when seed popped) are still quite moist - which the lil' sprouts seem to be enjoying.
Only one seedling has a tiny root coming out the bottom of the pellet.
That's what gets me: because of this, when should I transplant to Solo cups?
The gang is in a humidome, but two of them are practically touching the dome lid (probably are by now). I figure I gotta put those in Solo cups asafp, but I can't just put them in bone-dry/semi-moist/straight-out-the-bag Promix.
(humidity was ~95-99 last I checked, and I have ever so slightly raised the dome lid so that just a tiny bit of air can escape -- temps are about 86 Fahrenheit/30 Celsius late at night)
For how long is the soil supposed to sit (after saturating) before it's okay to put seedlings in?
Also, are you supposed to remove the "skin" from the jiffy pellet? That really seems to have bothered my other girl's nubile root system last time...
Will post pictures when RIU file upload is functional once more.
Thanks for taking the time to read this rookie's troubles, any constructive input is very welcome.
