Well that's what I was going off of when I purchesed my cxb a yr ago.. I know it's old tech just wanted to get answers that's all. I like these cobs and think these are a great choice just wanted to know if you know the eff. If the cxm22 was in the low 45 % eff at73w then it would give off 40w off heat and just checking the light engine you had could run passive .. was just double checking .. wasn't trying to get under your skin .. thanks
read the above, i hope that helps, seems we really dont have a good number for efficiency at this point

based on my testing efficiency of cxm at 73W is similar to CXB at 50-55W. so whatever number you were using for heatload for teh CXB, just multiply it by 1.4 or so and you'll have an idea

again big shoutout to supra and greengenes and growmau5 and SDS and robin and stephen and alesh and everybody else who took the time to characterize and further understanding of these chips in the early days. absolute numbers are hard to pin down with the various current/temp factors but certainly we have enough of an understanding that a ton of people had a bunch of most excellent grows in the last 2 years. and also to all the great growers out there putting down the knowledge as well

This thread is gold. Thanks to OP and cobkits great info. Now ive been searching for the cxm22 gen3 3500k 80cri but I cant find it. Can someone point me out where to buy this chip please? Part# CXM-22-35-80-54-AC30-F4-3-ND

I wanted the 3500K also, but 3000K is what I found at Cobkits and I went with them.
I can say that with my 3000k CXA3070s I found better results flowering compared to my cxb3590 3500K cobs, but not based on scientific measurements, just noticed 10% or so more yield in similar conditions with same strains in a few consecutive grows.
Are they better, who knows? Both wok better (for me) that HPS ever did so I am happy.

Nice. Was the setup the same (spacing between cobs and wattage/cobs)?

Yeah same setup except that the CXA cobs were back of tent and CXB front of tent. Did I mention thee are is the same tent? Another reason the test is not to be taken too seriously,
The CXA cobs have a slightly higher VF meaning they were drawing a watt or 2 more each maybe
I run 6 cobs per 240 watt driver(2 drivers total) dimmed to 376watts at the wall for both drivers and 12 cobs

Cool. Do you veg with the 3000Ks? I was wondering if it was doing quite the same job vegging than 3500Ks. I want to do a build good for veg and bloom.

I have some lights that are 5500K I veg wih, but I have vegged with the 3000Ks also with no problems.
Likely 3500k and 4000k will have slightly better results in veg though

Just remember for the couple of y'all who are trying to figure efficiency from the LER. Each Kelvin temp is going to have its own specific LER.

Is it a fair comparison though? I am in the camp of CXB from a monetary standpoint has lost major ground....but what if we compared the Vero C to luminus it would make the same look as the Luminus to the Cree, albeit a bit more cheaply, but it is somewhat skewed imho, a direct comparison...Of course again watt for watt, the Luminus and vero will both outrun the Cree at this point, so maybe I am just typing too much over this joint......:peace:
