It's already busted out of the shellit will bust out of the shell . give it time.
Turned green this morning but the growth is slowJust looks a little slow. How long like this?
Forgive me for not knowing the name of what I'm going to explain but inside the seed after the shell falls off there's a clear little membrane that sometimes will keep the lil seedling from opening especially if it's dry ....if my babies don't open up properly after a few days and the others around have,,, il gently mist the seedling and ....EXTREMELY CAREFULLY....roll that little clear membrane off the plant using my fingers and they open rite up .....I'm not sure this is the case with yours just cause there hard to see in person , let alone in a picture ...GL
Forgive me for not knowing the name I'm sure someone will in here ,it just slipped my mind....brain fart
@whitebb2727 or @cat of curiosity will know the name I'm sure
I removed it, my baby can finally grow!!! Thank you guys!!good call @Indacouch , yes, the seed membrane is choking the seedling. the husk is gone, but the membrane is like a birthing sack on a puppy; sometimes it doesn't break and you need to give it a helping hand.
gently mist the seedling and wait five minutes. then, with SURGICAL GENTLE HANDS, very softly rub the cotyledons between your thumb and forefinger until it slides off. if you feel any resistance, mist again, and wait another five minutes.
the day after the shell membrane is removed, the cotyledons will open, and your first single blade leaves will pop out, welcoming the air and light!
you can use tweezers, but they can actually tear the cotyledons, and if the membrane isn't loose, you can decapitate your baby plant.
good luck!![]()
awesome! how about an updated pic?I removed it, my baby can finally grow!!! Thank you guys!!
Definitely! Smoking a bowl of this Qrazu Train, gotta go get a new 300 watt CFL socket, then I'll snap a photo !awesome! how about an updated pic?

Sorry I am late to the discussion. I guess it would be called an embryo.
They get stuck sometimes. Often I let the do their thing. If it still stays stuck I use a little dropper and put a couple drops of water on it. I repeat after it starts to dry. Normally in a day it will come off. Worst cases I will gently assist but be careful. I have torn the cotyledons before.
Also plant your seed with the pointy end up. The tap root makes a u turn. As it comes out of the soil, the soil itself will pull the shell off.

official vegetation begins in the morning. by tomorrow afternoon, the cotyledons will be open, and tiny first true leaves will be growing out of the center. Here's an update on the seedling, it's cotelydons began to separate a little more and I can't wait to see her bloom a bit. It's Fem Lemon Kush from Female Seeds. This is my first grow, I'm using 3 ,23 watt CFLs for one plant at 5600k for veg. The soil is slightly damp and I added a few sprits of filtered water mist. The light is only a few inches away as they are CFLs. How long until the seedling begins official vegetation?
