Two analytical reports came out this week about the spread of fake news before the election - and beyond.
I can't really speak for one of the sources yet as it is not immediatly clear if the study is by a credible organization or not. But the other was put out by an institute that I am very familiar with. I tend to accept the findings of the later.
Those finding were that there was a coordinated Russian effort to create and diseminate fake news items that:
My hat's off to them. They did a good job. We probably taught them a lot of it while doing the same - at least in Putin's eyes. Things like this are necessary in order to get people to wise up but I am not sure how many will. There is a frightening number of people in America who this effort has really taken root in. I kind of see it as a form of radicalism thay is not entirely different from other radicalist movements around the world.
But, considering all the talk about biased DNC emails (the exposure of which was part of the Russian propaganda effort), I think it is a good idea to keep one's perspective.

- Sought to undermine confidence in American democracy and democratic institutions, especially the press.
- Sought to benefit Donald Trump's election bid.
