Bagseed "genetics"?

I know that the potency of a given strain is reliant on genetics. However, since a commercial grow is aimed for money and isn't tended to as properly, or harvested/cured at the appropriate time like a smaller personal grow, the full potential and potency of the genetics isn't realized.

OK, lets say you bought a sack of weed that gets you really high, but it most definitely was a commercial grow. Big Buds are really flat, and it's full of seeds. But it got you really high and it had a pleasant high as well.

Would it be safe to assume that given the fact that it was a commercial grow and it was full of seeds (Pollinated), and not carefully tended, can we assume that it has some good genetics that would be enhanced by proper growing/harvesting/curing techniques?

Am I making sense? Can bag seed have good genetics that are capable of 15% to 20% THC content if grown and tended properly?

your growing conditions may not be as good as a commercial gardener's

yeah definitely! most all strains are good, its just the growing/harvesting/curing processes that define the quality bud you'll get out. you can most definitely grow seeds from a bag of regs and end up with some beautiful buds.

Can't argue with your logic pirate. Experienced growers all seem to say that its 90% genetics and 10% conditions.

Its all subjective though not to say some bag weed cant make for a decent home crop. Even if its not "ultimate top secret blueberry tommy gun" or some shit, if it smokes good and gets you baked call it fat guy dingleberrys for all I care....

You can get great seeds from bag seeds and you can get crap seeds, I've had both.

I've got one bag seed plant now that's damn close to being a mid high and it's not even ripe yet.

So yeah, you can get some good weed from bag seed. But with good genetics you're pretty much guaranteed to get at least a really good plant and probably a kick-ass plant. Then it's up to you to properly dry and cure it so its full potential is realized. That's why I want to be able to cure for 6 months with some version of silver haze. That's the kind of weed I want to smoke.

At one point all strains came from bagseed, selective breeding is what allows for higher THC content, or more girth.

If I get a good sack with seeds I definately save some seeds to grow out.

Shit, Skunk came from mexican columbian bagseed, went to holland and bred with some afghani and the hybrid process began.

Bagseed is still good seed, but with good genetics, you know what to expect. Since it had a good high, and tasted alright, sounds like the genes aren't too bad.

I'm about to grow some seeds from a tasty bag I got while in Jamaica! :bigjoint:

Yes bagseed can offer good quality genetics some of the best strains about came from bag seeds . The thing is you do not know were the male pollin came from and most times there genes do not gel . Some people think if you cross good genetics you will be sure to have good genes in there cross,Its not the case this would rarely happen becasue to cross two hybrids and have good genetics you will only have a 1-8 chance of there genetics geling ,Luck of the draw sort of ..What i love about bagseed is if you do get lucky with good genetics you have a smoke no other fcker has and It sure makes the growing all the better While other pay for the rip of genetics that do not gel any ways ............... The Buds mom was good so your half way there only 1 way to find out for sure ..
