Clones are Struggling

30 hrs since cloned:

So far it's the least healthiest cutting that's showing the most life.

The frequent misting is all that's been keeping them alive, or lifelike. I don't have cloner, was able to clone stuff successfully in the past this way but the R/H was higher then than it is now. I'm still optimistic but less so.

fabricate a way to put a lid over them and a wet rag underneath the lid or something, they need humidity bad...and not a super bright light either.

Should really get together a dome for em, I'll see if I can concoct something . The light's not too bad I hope but I'll keep that in mind.

Did give root booster though, so there's that. 2 of them seem to be alive enough to support themselves however their leaves are mostly wilted so, that's trouble..

Cheap saran-wrap humidity dome. Cut some hole openings so it can breath, I put a wet sponge in a Gillette shaving cream cap.

Your substrate looks really dense, my cuttings always do better with extreme aeration. I usually put them in either straight perlite, or a 50/50 mix of perlite and coir. You can put these cuttings in a solo cup with a baggie over the top and not have to water or mist for days.

With a lack of oxygen to the stems, with dense soil, the cuttings will usually rot before root.

It's your substrate. Wayyyyyyy too dense its causing damping. What are temps as well I like lower 70's for my clones 100% success rate and used to run 4 128 site e z cloners. Change to a diff substrate or grab a dome, regular tray and tray for some rapid rooters some clonex gel and have a ball. Cut at a 60° angle slightly scrape sides nothing drastic at just enough to scuff up then dip in clonex then straight into the rapid rooters. Put some tap water in bottom but not enough to touch rapid rooters. Make sure to soak rapid rooters in bag for a couple minutes with rap water at room temperature. Put under weak lighting t5's are great CFL will work i use cheap LEDs that sit right on the dome keep vents closed for first 4-5 days then lightly start venting.

I see. I was watching some video of a guy making clones, I think from RIU, and he was using those peat plug things. I just remember him saying "the only time I haven't had roots growing is when I didn't pack the medium enough around the stem." Of course he probably had the stem coming out the other end of the plug, mine's logged in dirt.

I'd transplant to something with better aeration but I that would just hurt my already slim chances at this point. The stems are dug pretty deep in the substrate and there's a thick pebble rock layer, it might not have great odds but it's not as congested down there are it may seem.

Will keep ya posted, the humidity wrap kept the leaves nice and soft overnight. I have my tent R/H at 60 today so I'm throwing them in the tent under LED and misting. I'll do this proper another time and do appreciate all the tips

Yeah, I would have to agree this is a quick solution in an emergency until you actually get something more long term. That being said, they do look like a point of no return but hey I've seen it before so stay optimistic.

I had a similar issue, they recouped, with the humidity. I stopped watering them and just let the mist and humidity hydrate them. Less is more.

If no roots then you may want to do what Afghan King suggested, or you'll lose em

For me the easiest and quite cheap with so far 100% success rate is using jiffy peat pellets and clonex. Let them sit in the water. Shake some excess water off. Stick cutted tip to clonex and then to jiffy. Under the dome mist once or twice a day.

The thing about the humidity dome is I wonder how long should it be on for? For the first couple days sure but won't the soil not dry out if you have it on for a week with the lid on?

The jiffy pellets or DIY cloning station might be my next endeavor but I feel like my success rate will be good enough with this method, and I only take handfuls on cuttings not dozens or hundreds so this method is alright, I just baby em (note my chopstick placement). Should trim the leaves maybe too but I'm a new grower and seem to prefer doing less until I realize I need to do more, best way to learn!
