Agromax Pure UV bulb

I definitively think that is is very strain dependent. Ive had a few UVB bulbs the Agro max was the latest. Twice it really fired up indicas even with good spacing ~28". Other times it looked as if the plant was barely affected. I did exposure on several different intervals. Some of the indicas seemed to suffer with even 2hr daily exposure. Sativas fared far better. I also noticed that plants in much larger pots managed far better under intense irradiance in general.

I ended up switching out the agromax and dropping in the Hortilux Uvb. The plants love it. It's not as much UVB exposure but they respond to the spectrum and it gives some uvb. In a few weeks, closer to flower I plan on getting the Agromax back in there.
You are right.

I gave the advice to run the pure UV the whole time. The thing is I have only don't one run and the start of the next. They all handled it.

That doesn't mean that it will work for all strains.

I won't be advising people to run them full time. I'm actually going back to the 10,000k+uva bulbs.

Thank you for your input, much appreciated. Let me know if you find the sweet spot on these bulbs, please. I will still be running tests but I think you are correct, the strain may play a big role on how they respond.

Also, you were running autos, correct? That may factor in too.

It's seems to be debatable whether UVB increases potency. There are arguments on both sides. There are a few good convo's on RIU about UVB experiences.
Yea, I have heard both sides, not here though. I am currently flowering lemon skunk, and super lemon haze, in two different areas. One will get UVB the other will not. Each test strain are identical clones.

whats the argument for the not?
havent heard that one

i can see how it would..
increasing precursors, so thats where i come from
well i should say increasing precursors to a precursor lol

Im not sure if there is a specific argument. Its more that folks believe it stunts growth and has no positive effect. Sam Skunkman on Icmag has a thread about a test he did. He says he was working with a well known botanist that works with cannabis. His tests said nothing gained from uvb. There are naysayers on riu too.

It makes sense to me. I use it.

I don't know this guy, just stumbled upon his video researching uvb. He is not using the pure uv bulbs but he says uvb is only needed the last two weeks of flower, to increase potency. His only give off 10% uvb compared to 75% from the pure uv bulbs.

Ill give a heads up when I swap my t5's. Plants are wildly vibrant with the hortilux. It will be easy to observe any neg effects resulting from the increased UVB of the Agro
Are you running hortilux t5 bulbs? They have a whole line lime agromax. I just didn't k ow if they were worth the $25 a piece.
