According to fbi.gov -- research done in 2015.

Total arrests of crimes allegedly committed by black people make up 4.89% of their respective population.
Total arrests of crimes allegedly committed by white people make up 2.52% of their respective population.

When considering ONLY violent crimes, as we are discussing here, the statistics change.

Total arrests of crimes allegedly committed by black people make up 1.76% of their respective population.
Total arrests of crimes allegedly committed by white people make up 1.94% of their respective population.

Furthermore, according to various state funded research programs, it shows that black defendants constitute 25% of all incarcerations for rape. And 61% of those defendants have since been exonerated from such crimes. As in they were wrongfully arrested, tried and imprisoned.

This was posted on one of my favorite news sites today (no, not WaPo, but that is the source of the statistics).

1/2 way into 2016 the numbers seem to be close to the same as 2015, and we have a hotly contested election to get through yet.

just grist for the mill. ;)
