Will, What did you pay for the SQ-420 sensor if you don't mind me asking? I have looked at the makers site and they give links to suppliers but then from there cannot find them. The only thing I can find is on a coral reef site saying less than $200.
Awesome project.

Hello CW,
I just happened to be visiting Texas when the SQ420 came out and I ordered direct with Apogee while I was in the States.
$198 I think I paid. It is not the best out there but suits my purposes just fine. I use it for aquarium lights as well. Not a necessary item but an entertaining impulse buy. Thank you for your kind words.

Cheers,
Will

Update:

Well it has been 6 weeks since I helped my Mate set up his first grow. He has been enjoying his new experience and doing rather well. I thought I would update with some photos. He says his biggest problem thus far is resisting picking a bud off and smoking it. I noticed a few fungus gnats but no spider mites or deficiencies to stress over. All and all a new initiate to hobby on the road to self sufficiency

Looking good! Will you let us know how he yields when he's done Will? I know its not the be all and end all, but interested to see how this fixture you built performs for him.
Sure Mr Webster it would be my pleasure, a couple of weeks left in flower I will update final tally for you. Have a guess on final weight by looking at the photos (hard I know) and we can see who is closest. Winner gets a couple of free seeds ;) (if this is allowed on here of course)

Cheers,
Will

Sounds fun!! Arghhhh I will be the first one to embarrass myself with a guess then. I know a few facts but there's many variables I don't know and without giving anybody else a head up by listing what I do know and don't.... I will say... 5ounce and 3 quarters Dry. I cant see how deep the buds go so lets hope I have not embarrassed myself entirely but I probably have!!:dunce:

There is no shame in having a guess. Photos make it hard for sure. The strain is Humboldt Seeds Blue Dream. Which is a Blueberry x Haze. The smell is intoxicating and alluring. I had to wash my hands with white spirits because I stopped by his placed before I went to work to drop off some liquid ferts (organic) and take some update photos. I could still smell it on me for most the day. I got my hands stinky showing how to prune some fan leave to expose some lower bud sites to more light. 5 and 3/4 dry would make my Buddy super happy I hope your guess is spot on Mr. Webster.

Cheers,
Will

Folks the pack is off at full gallop now!

Noted math jockey Jorge Gonzales has joined the field (with some algebraic skull duggery no doubt) Followed closely by BM9AGS who's manly belch and can to forehead crushing theatrics lets the contenders know he is here to win.

You can taste the excitement in the air! I am as happy as a dog with two wieners.

Entertaining read. Im glad your mate is on his way to self sufficiency and more importantly having nicely dried and cured smoko.
