I feel you and that's def nice for people who have that option. But if your in a state where you have limited plant count and a short season then starting early is the way to go. Mine were only in 10 gallon smart pots before they got dropped in their large containers on June 1st. They were in those 10 gallon smart pots since early January so crazy root bound which equals no damage when transplanting. At least I've never had problems with it. Next year I'm gonna do like my buddy an start all in December & have them in a minimum of 30 gallon smart pots before they go into their large containers. Out here in Co with our short season he consistently hits 15 pounders. Doing a greenhouse and dropping them in real early would be awesome! I hope you get to do that next year, would be really cool to see!
