Cant i just grind up an 8th of some potent bud into some alcohol for 2 weeks?

Sounds pretty easy. Not sure if I want vodka or rum tho.

but it tastes better and is like more sophisticated man if you use concentrate..

as to time frame, even an hour will dissolve all the cannabinoids...alot less than that honestly but unless you want liquid bud might as well shorten that up a bit..
but idk maybe youll like cannabis flavored ciroc or some shit lol.

i use concentrate to know exactly how much is in a given portion..
plus you can have higher strength, saturae it better..

Right, ya hafta guinea pig it yourself first to better understand the dosage.

Rum will impart flavor, I wouldn't recommend that.

A quick alcohol soak will strip herb oil out in less than 10 minutes. The longer you soak it, more chlorophyll will accompany..

Make it when you have loads of larf and popcorn. Use a bottle or two of booze and several ounces of fluff. heat it up to distill out water and booze, decarb happens then.

so your recipe or whatever, you reduce the mixture, boil/heat and in the process decarb?

i might try this and make some drunken carrots.. (got an amazing recipe)
as a side today... sounds like a good idea..
though i prolly wouldnt do this as a tincture

Yeah i wonder why all the tincture recipes say the cold method is to soak for two weeks. I don't want to do any heating of the alcohol.

Cus I know when I did iso wash it was quick. No longer than 30 seconds before strained. Is grain alcohol different?

Isopropanol strips roughly twice as fast as ethanol

sugar alcohol ie vegetable glycerin (glycerol) is even slower than ethanol and lacks the side effects of etoh (best for sublingual use, due to properties pf the solvent)

Let's see if @Singlemalt can help here since it is his recipe I use. The strength is controlled by how much ethanol you dilute it with. I make mine strong enough, 1 or 2 drops sub lingual and I'm sailing in about 15 minutes.

Alcohol melts my gelatin capsules. But just taking a 2 dram bottle with 2 drops in it and I'm good.

Hth, i'm on a 36 hour bbq so I'm hallucinating just a bit.

If you use alcohol, you need to use the full tilt 190 proof Everclear. 80 proof (vodka) will not work to your satisfaction. The 91% isopropyl is adequate for "qwiso" washes, but the 99% is better.

I do a qwiso wash, 91% iso, below freezing. Roughly 10 grams of ground material/100ml of Iso. Put dried material in a mason jar and into freezer as is the iso. After a few hours, dump your Iso into jar with the herb. Shake violently for 30-40 secs and then immediately filter. I filter into a new mason jar and store up batches until I'm ready to evaporate it. Dump the qwiso into a glass baking dish; cover it with a lintless paper towel and blow a fan across the top of dish. depending upon volume, it will evap and be tar-like in12-36 hrs. Scrape the tar off with razor blade and do what you wanted. For a tincture I'll put a known amount in a known amount of 80-95% EtOH. It will dissolve in a day or so. Then doseage test, which may or may not be fun. If ultimate intended use is as edible, then decarbox the herb prior to freezing. If not edible, I turn the stuff into hash.
Don't be tempted to rinse, or re-extract the herb or else it gets dirty, bad tasting, etc. You will have gotten 85% of the THC in that 30-40second extraction so don't be greedy.

Sorry you guys keep using acronyms and im getting confused.

What does etoh stand for? I thought I used 190proof ever clear?

Do I still need to decarb the bud?

So iso wash frozen bud/trim and then use a set amount of hash per oz of everclear? Is there an amount you recommend for newbies?

Etoh is chemistry speak for alcohol. Kinda like when people call water H2O.
