Yo guys, i got three babies outside and i got that tropical storm Hannah coming in tonight and through the weekend. Suppose to drop mad rain and have mad wind, any ideas to protect my babies from this storm, possibly cover them with a tent and just cut out the bottom? Maybe a garbage bag covering each of them, anybody got any ideas before it comes in?

Take a bucket or anything and just cover them, put a couple holes near bottom for air, and put heavy rocks on container to hold them down. Good Luck

take a straw and blow hannah out to sea since u like to blow things, lol:lol:

just set up a makeshift tent with a tarp and ancor it down on the ground, put stakes up on the plants and tie them to it to prevent them from blowing over

ROLF... buckets with rocks to hold them down..... HAHAHAHA... that's a good one!!!

Obviously you've never been through a hurricane... or tropical storm. After hurricane Ivan our roadways were littered with boats that the storm had picked up and thrown about.... I even had one land on my front porch.

Even Tropical Storm force winds would easily knock buckets over (even with rocks on them) and possibly damage the plants in the process. I'm not trying to be critical.... I came from CA.... and had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what I was in for during my first hurricane

If the plants are in pots then your best bet is moving them indoors until the storm passes. If they are in the ground then there is really little you can do to protect them... they are in mother nature's hands :)

bongsmilieI hope you have some sort of natural wind break near your plants? like trees or bushes? I grew in NC for a bit with some old fart when the storms came one year he tied tarps up to the trees to make a wind break we lost some plants but most survived but I think if there touching your plant your plant will blow away with the tarp tie to trees make a wind break and tie them good:eyesmoke:we lost one tarp and the plants it was protecting the others were beat up and had wind burn just remember 50+mph (thats 95kph for those across the pond)sustained winds suck but you'll get through it weed is tough plant

I think Ike is going to come into the Gulf.... shit I'm dreading this one because I'm going to be traveling home from a business trip the end of next week and won't have time to really prepare if it's coming my way.

This is the worst part of the storm season... I can't wait for November ....

LOL... not a homeowner I take it? There is nothing amazing about a storm coming to destroy the home you've worked so hard to buy. Cleanup and repair is a NIGHTMARE.... I don't wish it on anyone :-(

You are lucky.... this is my front yard after Ivan..... that's 2 feet deep debris (took a big tractor to get out... backyard was worse)... and no.. that boat isn't mine... it just landed there. I had 2 feet of water in the house. Had to re-drywall the entire downstairs, pull out the carpet and tile the entire downstairs.... new roof, new A/C, new garage door, new fences.... new kitchen (still working on this) ... and much much more.... it was devastating!!!

Close!!! It's the location of Neverland..... Peter says it to Wendy, Michael and John when takes them there the first time. This according to the book.. not the movie Hook. Peter Pan is my favorite children's story :D
