How do you top a plant multiple times?

Hello this may seem like a stupid question. But I wanna know you top a plant multiple times? I know how to top plants once. But if you top again, are you still topping from the top of the stem again or are you topping side branches?

Follow this guide for top or fim. When the dots grow out you top of fim again the same way.

Thank you for the reply. So what node is the best to top at? I have a 3 week old indica plant. I topped her at the 5th node. Should have I topped at a lower node?

Fifth node is a good starting place.

After topping the first time you will have two leaders. I let them grow a few nodes, then top again to grow four leaders. Top each of those for eight leaders, etc.
