Well I clipped 2 buds which had ALL brown pistils and trimmed them, and here they are drying. These were middle to lower branches. How long should I leave them air drying until I put them in a jar to cure? I know it depends on many things, but my rh is about 50%. Yes, the rest of the plant is still growing to finish up. 20160527_164717.jpg

I have been drying for 3 days at a RH of 40%, I might have to go a day more.
I put them in jars but the humidity reached 70% so I took them out to dry more.

Jar the product, along with a Caliber III hygrometer. One can be had on Ebay for ~$20. Having tested a number of hygrometers - digital and analog - this model in particular produced consistent, accurate results. The Hydroset/Xikar hygrometers are also recommend after calibration. Then, watch the readings:

+70% RH - too wet, needs to sit outside the jar to dry for 12-24 hours, depending.

65-70% RH - the product is almost in the cure zone, if you will. It can be slowly brought to optimum RH by opening the lid for 2-4 hours.

60-65% RH - the stems snap, the product feels a bit sticky, and it is curing.

55-60% RH - at this point it can be stored for an extended period (3 months or more) without worrying about mold. The product will continue to cure.

Below 55% RH - the RH is too low for the curing process to take place. The product starts to feel brittle. Once you've hit this point, nothing will make it better. Adding moisture won't restart the curing process; it will just make the product wet. If you measure a RH below 55% don't panic. Read below:

Obviously, the product need time to sweat in the jar. As such, accurate readings won't be seen for ~24 hours, assuming the flowers are in the optimal cure zone. If you're curing the product for long-term storage, give the flowers 4-5 days for an accurate reading. If the product is sill very wet, a +70% RH reading will show within hours. If you see the RH rising ~1% per hour, keep a close eye on the product, as it's likely too moist.

Ya I think there is some purp in it for sure. All of the buds are like that. My temp sometimes goes down to 69 degrees when lights out rarely. Most of the time its 70-72 F

Sounds about right, so around 3 days drying will be expected for me. thanks @mean.green

@chuckie86 I'm no expert but I'd try to remove all of the bananas if possible, if they're young maybe their durable and hard to burst and underdeveloped. I'd try to leave the plants let them mature as long as possible. I wouldn't chop now, as I have harvested premature bud in the past and its just not worth it in the end if its not completely mature.. But 1.5 to 2 weeks early is definitely too early to harvest bud. you wouldn't even want to smoke that finished product in my opinion. I'm also judging by the pic you put up.

I've only ran a few autos, but I'd say there is at least 2 weeks left, the ones I ran were 75-90 days from seed...there are several ways to know if tis truly ripe...hairs drawing back into the flower. people love going by trichs too, but to me that's about a 3rd of the equation..good luck man that plant is coming along nicely! That's a very pretty purple too :)

Dank101 here's few pics from today I took these are one of the plants I'll post pic of the other one
Looking good, you see the pistils that have the light, neon green or white yellow color.. I try to harvest when I don't see any more of those. Sometimes 1 or 2 will stay and not change for weeks so 1 or 2 is OK but you want almost, if not, all brown pistils when you pull the buds in my opinion.

I'd say this pretty much nails it for you, @Cloudy Forecast, although I have no experience with auto flowers at this point. Those buds have crazy color and look pretty good to me, but it does look like they could swell up some more.

Yeah that purple is some serious beauty to it...I kinda want to run it myself just for the picture opportunities...a very hot naked (asian, latino, blue lady from star trek, green lady from star trek) would make that stand out! :)
