24hr dark before harvest?

Do plants need to be kept in the dark for any length of time before harvest or can I just harvest on the day I see them ready.

Dinafem - White Widow:
blah..blah ..it is advisable to leave them in complete darkness for the last 5 days, to increase resin production as much as possible.

This technique also increases the concentration of essential oils and flavours, so it is recommended if you want a very tasty final product. Bear in mind that it can be eaSily affected by mould in humid climates and can be harvested till the 10th October, so it is advisable to harvest it quickly. In dry climates you can sit back and enjoy its wonderful aroma.

= Total Shit
I harvest my 5 foot DF Widow yesterday, and very very happy so far

she is cut to 2 foot stalks and is hanging in the drying closet,

with much stink!

I was very happy with Dina Fems products until I read the above label ..lol

see it for what it is:

shitty unskilled horticulturist workers offering bullshit excuses for inferior products

just like with cars and pc's,

I gotta be honest tho...these were a freebie from Herbies

..nuf said

good luck

You should harvest right before the lights come on. That's when the leaves are almost out of starch.

Keeping in the dark for more than the normal 12 hours isn't going to do anything. The plant will just go dormant after it runs out of starch, which is useless.

I wait 'til the light comes on then I can see. :)

I recommend the plant(s) suck up some RO water for the last twenty four hours...with the roots off. Each 3-4 foot snip will suck up about a half liter of RO water during this cycle.
I do this in the budding room but trouble happens if they are allowed to go dry with the HPS.

For the gringo that is not equipped this can be done in a dark closet without any possibility of screwing up.

You will find the little pocket change and the extra effort will be well worth it knowing your bud is drying with purified water and you and your friends will be smoking weed thats been cleaned(flushed) properly.

Can you give some sort of evidence-based explanation for why you want to do this?

It's not a matter of wanting to do this it's a matter of must do this or it will be a gamble on how the weed tastes and burns etc.

Why waste 10-12 weeks on some plant(s) just to botch it in the end.

One good reason is I'd drink RO water but I'd have to be some desperate to drink rez water :)

It helps with sales.

I won't buy your lbs unless it's done this way.

I stopped pushing BC hydro growers into doing this final flush in 2005. Have you noticed a diff?

Just chop them at the end of the dark period....it's been done by millions of people for years, there's no point trying to reinvent the wheel.
Yur right...good thing auto manufacturers haven't spent billions on reinventing the wheel so we can be more safe etc. Steel rimlets and wooden spokes work just fine.

That sounds like a lot of extra work, do you have something I can read about this? I wonder why this would be different from just running ro or even flora keen and ro water through the plants for a week or so.

So...you don't have any evidence to support your claim is what you're saying. Got it.

You can't leach through the rooting system. It's not even slightly worth the effort to starve the plants towards the end. I run the mix right until the end then roots off flush.

There is no place to read about this final flush method except what I've published on RIU.

I plant the same day I pull, in the same medium, in the same mix. There is no down time for other methods that don't work anyway. Very busy day. But I can sleep with the plants sucking up RO water, and they aren't in my grow space. The hard part is getting 'em outta the bucket :)

This has been brought to you by the inventor of the F&D table system as of 1993 BC Canada :)
Do you have any evidence that it doesn't work? You don't see Chucky on this anymore...

I know-right no need to over complicate things. K.I.S.S.

number of pots vs fucks given.
at six pots, you have all the time in the world to fuck around with whatever voodoo you want. at some point in # you will figure out, what is really necessary and careless about voodoo.
