First Grow Using California Light Works 880 LED

Good day fellow enthusiasts, this grow log will be following my first grow under the California Light Works 880 LED grow light. For those not familar with this light it is made up of 220ea. LED'S and also includes 2ea. UVB tubes ( 1 on each end ) to sweeten things up at the end. Up until this point I have been using a 1000w HPS setup and harvesting 2lbs. of dry bud consistantly.
My setup is as follows:
7' x 7' sealed room w/no exhaust or intake.
Bottled CO2 injection controlled by a Auto Pilot digital CO2 controller w/fuzzy logic.
Mr. Cool 9,000 Btu mini split a/c system w/heat pump.
SPT 65 litre dehumidifier hooked to a perm. drain line which drains outside the room.
Hurricane 16" programable wall mounted circulation fan.
2 ea. 8" circulation fans sitting at ground level to keep the CO2 from settling down low.
Hydrologic small boy dual cannister water filter w/the KDF filter to insure removal of chlorine/chloramine and sediments from the water supplied to the garden.
I grow in a 50/50 mix of coco and perlite with great bug and disease free results.
Last crop I tried the advanced nutrients line of nutes w/great results ( I have been using G.H. nutes up to that point with similar results at a much cheaper cost ). I am going to use G.H. nutes this time around as I have more experience with these nutes and much better availability locally here in norcal.
I run my temps between 80° and 85° with the lights on and between 70° and 75° with the lights off.
I keep the humidity around 55% - 60% during veg. ( first 4-5 weeks ) and 35% - 40% during flowering with no issues of bud mold or rought to date.
I water and feed drain to waste and remove excess within 30 minutes after feeding.
I typically grow 4ea. plants in 7 gallon smart pots
This run will be 4ea. Green Crack strain plants using seeds supplied by Crop King Seeds ( Afghan X Skunk #1 ) and the seeds are soaking as we speak....
I invite positive comments especially from anyone with experience with this particular lighting system.
Please no LED vs HID lighting controversial blah blah :-)

Thanks for stopping by and check back often as I will be updating at least weekly with lots of pics.

Seeds have all popped and I will be putting them in coco later this afternoon.
Light will be set at 36" to start and I will maintain 30" - 36" for the duration of the vegative stage (aprox. 4 weeks).
No nutes for the first few days, allthough I did add some Calmag in the initial soaking of the coco yesterday.
I will be giving a diluted solution of G.H. rapid grow in a couple of days and start regular nutes (diluted to 1/4 strength) by the end of next week.
attached is a couple of photos of My setup...

Dude nice set up!! I'm going to follow this closely becuase I am also using California light works but the 220 watt solar flare model, also growing in a coco perlite combination.

Happy growing

Seedlings are on their second set of leaves at 4 days above ground, I adjusted the to 38" just to be sure I don't cook 'em with too much light at this stage. Gave them a light watering with a diluted solution of ph 5.8 filtered water and calmag/g.h. rapid grow. Planted the seedlings directly into the 7 gallon smart pots so I won't be dealing with transplanting.
I will post pics on Sunday when seedlings are officialy 1 week old.

Happy Growing My Friends!

20160307_112044.jpg 03/05/16 Week 1 Veg.

Plants are looking good, normal size for 1 week old seedlings.

Plants are one week old (above ground)

Have been giving them a diluted solution of rapid grow and G.H. Flora series nutes. Plants are normal dark green and showing no signs of leaf distortion as experienced on the last crop. Plants seem to love the LED light and show no signs of stretching.Light is at 38" above plants and show no signs of burning/bleaching. Running just the Hurricane 16" fan on low /osc. Temps are running 78° - 82° and humidity is 50% - 60%. CO2 is set at 1200ppm. A/C system runs much less with the LED's compared to the HID lights due to lower running temps. Will top plants in 3 weeks and change to 12 hour light cycle in 3 - 4 weeks.

Cool grow, I am leaning towards adding this will be cool to see what you get compared. I have 2x 440w atm I have pulled near 2lb from 4 plants 4x4, and I use those nutes plus a few others.

How many plants are you doing and are you going to flower the full 7x7?

And yeah I have a 600 hps mixed in with my LED's and the heat is awful compared to led. To me you save alot of cost right there.

Hi kachiga, been gone for a bit, had a little issue with overwatering but all 4 plants have recovered and are luvin' the 880. Will post pics and latest grow info this evening P.S.T. Stay tuned.... 4 plants and will probably take up a 6' X 6' area.

Here's the plants 1 week ago, they were stunted due to me having to leave town and rookie caretaker watering the piss out of them, but they are back on track and growing like weeds, lol, actually avg. About 1" - 2" per day, feeding/watering about every 4 days right now but I will be increasing that shortky. Plants are loging the Solar Storm 880 and so is my power bill, only saw a $40.00 increase the first month of 18 hours compared to a little over $120.00 increasee with my 1000 hps. Part of that is also the split A/C system runs alot less with L.E.D.'S. I was a naysayer but I have to admit I am pretty impressed so far, healthiest plants I have grown to date - crop #7.20160405_185822.jpg

Looking great. I keep getting more and more interested in LED. I'm curious, if you could help me understand and/or teach me how to get 2lb on 4 plants? You mentioned you will be vegging for 3-4 weeks on this grow and expecting to get 2lbs of 4 plants? HOW, with such a short veg time can you pull 8oz per plant? I could see if you topped, super cropped, lst and veg for 2-3 months getting that much...just shows how much I have to learn. Thanks.

It looks great man. How far do you have the light? And also what GH nutes are you using and what strength lol. I'm having trouble getting dialed in

Hi Benelli, last crop I only topped the plants once and used the " advanced nutrients " line of nutrients, tallest plant was only about 4 1/2' from top of 5 gallon pot, have I have included this pic showing plants right before harvest, I know advanced nutes are expensive but the resulrs speak for themselves, also I am using CO2 in a totally sealed room, any other questions feel free to ask away, good luck and happy growing my friend

Hi Steadyeddie, I currently have the LED's 22" - 24" and will probably maintain that for the rest of the grow. As far as feedings I use 1/2 of the bottle directions with both G.H. and advanced nutrients with stellar results, m7nd you I am growing in Canna CoCo and feed 3 times then light flush with ph'd water then feed 3 times, flush ect.... I will post a cool custom schedule showing both G.H. and A.N. nutes schedules

So that AN line and Co2 are getting you 2lbs off 4 plants with a 3-4 week veg time?

Hi Benelli,
Actually I changed lights at 5 weeks of veg. And also removed alot of the big water leaves to allow better light penetration to the interior of the plant which allowed potential popcorn buds to become actual decent size cola's
