Dr. Who
I have a portable in the shed I don't use it is an expensive beast. I always recommend Window A/C unit over portable if possible. Not that I wouldn't run a portable if I was out of meds because that's why I have a portable obviously, necessity. If you do run a portable then insulating the exhaust hose pays for itself pretty fast. Also note that you do need to seal the inside in my experiences if running co2
I respect that! BUT -
I WON'T use a window rattler because it allows in unfiltered air! I live in the sticks on a farm and have farms all around beside the woods in the valley I'm in. So, beside allowing in any bug. They also "suck" in spores of god knows what......1 power outage and boom - mold attack!
The Tripp Lite is a server cooler and is set up a bit different then a regular portable.
It's about being a single exhaust outlet, that's exactly 6 inch's to the old inefficient portables off size "5".
It acts as a dehumidifier at the same time, exhausting out the moisture and NOT storing it in a "tank"!
I have had mine for 4 and 1 year respectively.....Under the same conditions. The only other portable to "last" has been Amana's
The Tripp also use's LESS energy then a window rattler or any other "portable" on the market today!
I'm set up to run Gas (generator) in a 24 X 14 room and the portables would be shut off and the central AC/heat would handle any cooling needs while gassing. The portables are support/back up to the Central AC.....After all, gassing requires about 90 deg and an RH in the 70's...
